Happy Friday! This has been a bizarre and sad week in Texas. The winter storm that came through looked benign at first glance but was not so nice to our state. I feel so bad for those who lost power and water for days (my kids, for one). I do not understand why our grid could not handle the storm. And so many people had rolling blackouts or no power at all.

I looked into it a bit and found out that a company called ERCOT manages about 550 energy units across Texas, which powers 90% of the state. ERCOT gained control over the power needs of Texas about twenty years ago. What I find interesting is that the Chair of the Board lives in Michigan, the Vice-Chair is listed as living in Germany, and three others live in Maine, Illinois, and Canada. WTH??? Hopefully, this situation will never happen again! Brighter days are ahead as the temperatures are headed up, but I still don’t understand what happened! In the words of Ricky Ricardo, someone has some splaining to do!

I am so happy to be back with my Chic at Every Age gal pals! We are trying to get back into the groove of shooting together, and it makes me so happy! I have missed being with these three. We found this fabulous coat for under $100 and wanted to share it with you all. This plush faux shearling coat is so soft and cozy. We love the longer length for colder days (boy, did we need that length the day we shot!). I love the cream color, but it also comes in a pretty caramel.

I paired mine with a lavender smocked turtleneck (I am ready for spring colors) and white jeans.

And I have not had a chance to wear my snake print boots much at all, so I threw those on to add some more pizazz to the look. I also wanted to let you in on a secret. The bag I am carrying is an amazing dupe for the Bottega Veneta chain pouch. This bag looks so much like the real deal because it is made of real leather. It comes in five colors and is just under $200. I’m about to order this bag now!

CHIC AT EVERY AGE GROUP

We are not doing much this weekend. Our son and daughter-in-law are still here with us (I love it!). They had a pipe bust underneath their house and will be working on getting that fixed today. One good thing that happened out of this storm was having them here! It’s so much fun to wake up and have family here!
