THROW ON A CAPE
It’s Friday…YAY! I don’t know why this week seems to have dragged on, but I’m glad it’s the weekend! Today, I am throwing on a cape for a little warmth instead of a coat. The Texas weather has been so weird of late, and I never know if it’s going to be 75 or 45! Sometimes I just don’t want to fool with a coat, so a cape is an easy way to stay warm, but also look chic.
This is a cape from Ann Taylor that I bought in 2015 (unfortunately not available). I still like the neutral colors and can throw it on with just about anything. I paired it with this cute flannel plaid shirt that has some rhinestones on it. The cape has a buckle in the front that helps keep it in place, but I really like it open. You can achieve the same look with a big oversized scarf. This look is great when the temperature is not cold enough for a big coat, but you need something. I love a cape or big scarf with fringe! I also think the cape takes a shirt and jeans and makes it look like an outfit.
A cape or an oversized scarf can look so chic over an all black or white outfit. One bit of advise while wearing a cape or big scarf…it’s much easier to carry a purse with handles than to try and keep one on your shoulder. It’s maddening!
I sound like a big loser, but all I want to do this weekend is sleep and clean out my bathroom cabinets. I have accumulated so many products, that I can’t find what I’m looking for most of the time (remember I live in a condo and the bathroom is small and so is my storage!). Exciting, right?! I just haven’t had time to do it and it’s finally time!
Hope you all have a great weekend doing what you want to do! Thank you for reading! xx

I just love this look and this post and I ordered a cape/wrap that you suggested earlier and have truly enjoyed it!! (It’s interesting, people will say “you look so nice” and I’m literally in an all black outfit with no makeup except a plum lip and a cape/wrap and so comfy!! Thanks Cathy! (agree about the low key weekend too btw!)

I love your cape! I find a pashmina gives the same vibe and is easily folded into your tote when not needed.

Hi, Cathy,
I hope you are fine when reading my message.
I am new in your blog, but since the beginning I have been loving it. Although very far from you (and in opposite seasons) your beautiful and clean style fits on me. And I love it too.
Very happy 2017 for you. Best wishes!

Claire…thank you so much! I am so glad you ordered one of the capes and that you like it! I would feel horrible suggesting something and you hate it!!! Whew!!! I bet you look amazing every day, and I wish I could wear a plum lip! I have to wear the nude pink colors, or I look so weird!!! Thank you so much for reading and commenting! xoxo

Your outfit strikes the perfect balance between casual elegance and style I’m completely enamored! The way you’ve layered those capes and ponchos is simply stunning, and it’s inspired me to try something similar with pieces from my own wardrobe. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your fabulous look! By the way, while on the topic of style and aesthetics, have you ever played geometry dash? It’s quite the visual treat, much like your ensemble!

I get that playing these kinds of games every once in a while is a good way to relax and unwind, but it’s not a good idea to let yourself get too engrossed and ignore your other responsibilities. moto x3m
