A CHIC HOLIDAY AND NEW YEAR’S EVE OUTFIT

A Chic Holiday & New Year’s Eve Outfit That Feels Festive—Not Fussy

When the holidays roll around (and especially New Year’s Eve), I’m always looking for an outfit that feels celebratory but still very me. I want sparkle, yes, but I also want polish, comfort, and something that doesn’t feel like I’m trying too hard. This look checks every single box.

The hero of this outfit is the sequin midi skirt. Rich, warm, and glowing in that deep burgundy-brown tone, it’s festive without screaming “holiday.” Sequins don’t have to be reserved for December 31st only—when styled this way, they feel elevated, modern, and completely wearable. The midi length keeps it sophisticated, while the shine brings the party.

I paired it with a soft brown cashmere sweater on top, which is the secret sauce here. Mixing something cozy and understated with sequins instantly tones things down in the best way. This contrast makes the outfit feel chic and intentional instead of costume-y. It’s also a great reminder that sparkle doesn’t require skin-baring or anything overly tight to make an impact. Am I right?

The faux fur jacket adds just the right amount of drama. It’s luxe, timeless, and perfect for holiday evenings when you want warmth and style. Draped over the shoulders or worn straight on, it elevates the entire look and makes it feel New Year’s Eve–ready in seconds.

For shoes and accessories, I kept everything in the same warm brown family—simple heels and a small clutch. Keeping the palette tonal lets the textures do the talking, which is one of my favorite styling tricks, especially as we get dressed for evening events.

This is the kind of outfit that works for so many occasions: holiday dinners, cocktail parties, festive date nights, and absolutely New Year’s Eve. It’s elegant, confident, and proves that sparkle can be grown-up, stylish, and incredibly flattering at any age. This skirt also looks great styled casually with a blazer and boots long after the holidays.

If you’re looking for a cocktail, holiday or NYE outfit that feels modern, chic, and not the least bit try-hard, let this be your inspiration. Because getting dressed should feel fun—and this look definitely feels like a celebration!

I wore this exact look last night at an engagement party in Nashville. One of my oldest and dearest friends showed up in almost the exact look  (see, it works!).  She wore a black knit top and boots with her skirt and looked great!

Well, here we are…the Saturday before the big day. I hope you all are as ready as can be by now. I am so NOT stressed. We did Christmas on Monday night with my boys and wives in Dallas (and grandkids) because they are all gone this year (so rude, right?), so the buying and wrapping had to be finished last weekend. This is the first Christmas that we don’t have any kids. We will have my mom, her husband, and my husband’s family for Christmas, so we aren’t really alone.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. If you get stressed , remember The Reason For The Season!

Sending lots of peace and love your way! xx

Be well and Stay safe!
