MY QUICK TRIP TO NEW YORK DURING FASHION WEEK
MY QUICK TRIP TO NEW YORK DURING FASHION WEEK
Good Morning, friends! I hope you all are well this Wednesday! I had great news about one of my friends who was diagnosed with cancer and had surgery yesterday. Her prognosis is much better than we thought, and they removed what needed to be removed, and she should be good to go! Whew! Lots of prayers answered for that one! Last month, Heather, of So Heather and I headed up to New York for a quick trip during Fashion Week. We had initially decided not to go, but then we got invitations to two shows (Veronica Beard and Sally Lapointe)that we wanted to go to, so we decided last minute to make the trip. As quick as it was, Heather and I always have fun together!
On that note, really excited to share about our trip and these photos of how we styled this Alice and Olivia black crushed velvet blazer!
A Fun Photo Shoot
We planned a photoshoot with a darling girl named Kelsey Cherry, who lives in New York. Get this; she was my photographer when I lived in Nashville. It was so much fun getting to see her and work with her again! Anyway, Heather and I picked this adorable Alice & Olivia crushed velvet blazer as one of our looks and animal print as the other.
Leather was everywhere in New York
The blazer is a crushed black velvet but in person, has the most gorgeous copper undertone. It’s so pretty for fall or holiday parties (fits a little snug across the shoulders so that I would go up a size). Guess what? It’s on sale at both Alice & Olivia and Neiman Marcus (both having Friends and Family sale). I added the blouse that is old and not available any longer but would wear it with this blouse, this cami, or this graphic tee for different looks. I wanted to break out my leather jeans while we were in New York, and I am so glad I did. Leather is EVERYWHERE for fall! Mine are old, but these look similar. I know leather is expensive, but I have had my leather pants for years now and they are worth every penny. If you want a “leather-look,” these are a good option. I felt very NY chic in this outfit. You all know that I love my Benincasa Milano pumps (! I don’t wear any other brand in pumps because these are so stinking comfortable! I can wear them for hours, even in New York!

Black is always a good idea in New York
My second outfit is these snake print jeans (sold out but similar here) and my favorite vegan leather shirt from Nanushka. This top is one of my very favorite pieces that I have ever bought. It is so soft on the inside. When I head to New York, I always pack pieces in black. Everything can be mixed easily, and it looks very New Yorky (is that a word?). I am also wearing the pair of boots I bought the day before this shoot. Oh, my goodness…I love these boots! They are almost like a “sock” bootie that can be worn under skinny jeans.
My favorite travel companion
Heather is my favorite travel companion. We get along famously and like to do the same things (shop), except she goes to bed much earlier (about 9 pm) than I do! It’s probably why she always looks so good! She has started a youtube channel and has a post on NY Fashion Week. Please check it out here. YouTube channels are hard work, so I hope you will give her some love! She deserves it!
I have a few meetings today, and then I am off to get my hair colored. I forgot to book my appointment, and my sweet colorist, Betty, at The Do Cut and Color is working me in today. How come you can have no roots one day and then the next day they look two inches long? I am mortified that mine look like they do. Thank goodness I am getting color today! I hope you all have a fabulous day! xx
