PUPPIES, RAINBOWS, AND BUTTERFLIES
Good Morning “Middle Pagers”! How was your weekend? Mine was a puppy, rainbow, and butterfly kind, compared to last weekend! My counts were WAY back up on Thursday, and I was able to proceed with chemo as planned ( answered prayer!). I started the new one, called Taxol. It’s supposed to be much easier, but I did feel the same way on Saturday that I usually feel…nauseous! It’s just a come and go thing that lasts all day.
Chemo is not particularly fun (duh!), but the last four I had, I just chilled and talked to whoever was there with me. I usually have a party in my room, so the actual infusion goes by fast. This new one, not so much! It is a three hour drip (yawn) and I don’t get to just sit back and chill. Taxol is known to cause certain symptoms, and one of those is neuropathy. My oncologist has her patients keep their fingers and toes in ice during the infusion. It is supposed to keep neuropathy from happening. Did not sound fun, but for a big fat reason. I have an auto-immune disorder called Raynaud’s Phenomenon. Bottom line, my fingers and particularly my toes, are usually freezing and blue. I am supposed to sit for three hours with already freezing fingers and toes in ice? Yeah, it happened. Not only that, but, I have to keep ice in my mouth during the drip, to prevent mouth sores. I was one frosty bitch while this was going on!!! (not really, it just sounded good to say).
I was under house arrest last week, so as not to expose my self to any germs. Therefore, I did not get any fashion pictures taken. We will be doing those this week, so I will have them for next week. Thought the photos below might suffice. Hope you have a great Monday! xx
