Hey, lovely ladies! I hope you all had a great weekend! It’s June 24th, and I am back in black! I know you all must be thinking, what the heck is she doing in black in the summer? It’s been hot as hell, and she must be crazy! I am a little bit crazy, but that is beside the point :). When I found this dress, I didn’t even flinch because it was black. Here’s the thing. I love summer colors, but when I purchase something, I always ask myself this question, can I wear it for more than one season? Black can be worn year round, which is one of several reasons why I love it so much.

Black Dresses are easy to dress up or down

Black (especially dresses) can be dressed up or down (not talking cocktail or formal here). A jacket or sweater can be thrown over them for chillier temps, they are the best for traveling, and my favorite reason is, that a black dress is not always memorable (meaning you can wear it many times without people saying, there she is in that dress again!).

A leather jacket can be added for fall and winter

The dress I am wearing is from Club Monaco. I love the layered pleats and think it is so fun for dinner out or a wedding. I dressed it up with heels, but I would certainly wear a flat sandal with it too. Maybe even a pair of sneakers for fun! I can add a leather jacket to this dress in the fall and winter months, making this a year-round dress.

Our weekend was fun! We had friends over to the house for dinner on Friday, and my new puppy was in someone’s arms the whole night. I have forgotten what taking care of a puppy is like. I am getting up at 2:30 or 3 am to let her go to the bathroom, so I am exhausted. She wants to play a lot but sleeps most of the day. She is a wild thing when she is awake and playing. We have deep monkey grass out in front of our house, and it’s hilarious to watch her hop through it.

The grandchildren and my son and daughter in law left for the week yesterday. My daughter arrived last night for a few days, so we have a revolving door situation going on over here. I have a relatively light week and would love to get some things cleaned out while the kids are gone. Hopefully, that will happen, but if I know me, they probably won’t. I should just bite the bullet and have someone come and organize for me!
