Good Morning, Everyone! I mentioned on Monday that I was going to New York for a minute and it did seem like a minute! I was there for a whirlwin 24 hours. I went up for Chico’s celebration for the launch of #HowBoldAreYou. This event was to launch the brand’s new focus, and that is, How Bold Are You?  Chico’s is trying to change the attitude of age because honestly, it is just a number. These days, women can be anything they want. They can be doctors, CEO’s, curvy, mothers, dye their hair purple, bloggers, teachers; you get the picture! The question is, why are we afraid to say our age out loud?

There was a group of eleven influencers (all wearing Chico’s) who were invited to come to the event, and boy what an event it was! We met at Joe’s Pub to hear Lesley Jane Seymore (editor of the past More magazine) emcee the event. The first guest was the actress, Tracee Ellis Ross, who I think is incredible! She spoke about how much better life is getting older and how there are so many extraordinary women (older) doing amazing things. She also told the story about the Oscar’s when Helen Mirren at 72 years old was the one they chose to come out on the jet ski at the end of the show. She said, “it was a cute moment, but it did something really spectacular because it blew an archetype of being a bombshell. If you watched the Oscar’s until the end, did you think the same thing?

The next part of the event was a performance by Molly Ringwald (who is now 50!). She sang three songs and the cutest was watching her husband react to her. She looked the same as she did in the movie Sixteen Candles. We were then taken across the street to Indochine for a dinner and celebration. It was such a beautiful night, and I love that Chico’s is trying to change the way age is viewed. Who cares about the number, you can try anything you want to, and that’s the beauty of getting older! We should be BOLD, not OLD! #HowBoldAreYou? Check out the new ad/video here. It gives me chills every time I see it!
