DARK FLORAL DRESS
Hi, Ladies! I hope you had a great weekend! We finally got to go to a new restaurant in town that I had been dying to try on Friday night. I highly recommend Mister Charles! I felt like I was in New York the minute I walked in. The restaurant is in the old Highland Park Pharmacy (which is so cool and nostalgic), but it doesn’t look like that anymore. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and the food was amazing too! The rest of the weekend was super low-key, except that I started packing for a big trip we are taking, which is why I bought this dark floral dress.
Let me start by saying that I have severe packing anxiety. It is a “real” thing! Knowing that I have to pack for any trip throws me into a tailspin (anyone else?). My husband and I are headed to London, Barcelona, and Madrid next weekend to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We booked this trip a while back, and I have been accumulating some easy pieces I can take with me for some time now. I decided to start packing yesterday (to alleviate the anxiety), and wouldn’t you know, I am not taking any of the pieces (except the dark floral dress) I bought specifically for this trip! When I got ready to add them, my suitcase was full, and I am not changing! We are leaving next weekend and headed to Montana today for 48 hours to get the keys to a little place we just bought. Double-packing anxiety!
This darling tricot jersey dress from Ulla Johnson was a purchase that I knew I would wear a lot. I bought it for our trip because I knew I could wear it differently. It’s so comfortable, and I love the shirred waist that can be adjusted and the dark floral print. I am wearing it as a dinner dress with a leather jacket over it and casual with sneakers and a sweater or leather vest over it. It is so lightweight and can be rolled up in a suitcase.
I am taking a suitcase packed with a black color scheme so everything will work together. I found this cute dress (easily packable) and this fabulous jacket that are also going with me. I’m only taking a few pairs of shoes (sneakers, heels, and Birkenstocks) that can be worn with everything now if I could pare down my toiletries and makeup! I bought this Trish McEvoy planner and have already given it a test drive. It works great (but I have another bag of makeup I can’t live without, and it will come with me). Last but not least, I ordered the cutest travel jewelry case (on sale and a great gift)!
It’s going to be a busy week! Don’t forget, if you are local, LAGOS Jewelry is having an event from September 29 to October 2 at Neiman Marcus Willow Bend to showcase the one-of-a-kind Couture pieces that Steven Lagos designed. I will be there on Saturday and would love to see you!
Have a great day! Be Well and Stay Safe! xx

Cathy,
I totally can relate! We are leaving for 17 days in South Africa next Tuesday and I have been prepping for this trip since July. We have travelled extensively and have the packing thing down generally, but this is a very different trip. We will be on business for some of the time, and then hiking and on game drives for the rest of it, so I am packing everything from dresses and heels to anti-sun and mosquito clothes and hiking boots. We’ll also be dealing with cold temperatures in the early a.m. and much warmer temps. by noon, so we need everything from fleece jackets to t-shirts. I’ve never thought so hard about clothes for a trip in my entire life! I too have started early in hopes that I won’t a.) forget stuff I really need and b.) ridiculously overpack. Thanks for sharing your packing travails and strategies–I love your ideas and suggested products, if not for this trip, our next one. 🙂
