MERRY CHRISTMAS WEEK!
MERRY CHRISTMAS WEEK!

Merry Christmas Week! I hope you all had a great weekend and are thoroughly enjoying the season! It’s taking me a lot longer this last two weeks to do everything I needed to because of the above! I have this darn boot on because of a stress fracture on the top of my foot. I head back to the doctor today to find out how it’s looking, and I am afraid it’s not going to be good. It is still hurting, so that can’t mean it’s healed. I saw my oncologist last week, and she is going to send me to a bone density specialist because of this. She said that having had chemo really does a number on your bones.
I wanted to tell you all a few things. I want you all to know how much I appreciate your support on this blog. The fact that you all read and comment means the world to me. It takes a lot for me to get these posts done, and I appreciate you all so much! That being said, I am going to take off a week or two starting today for two reasons. I don’t want to miss Christmas, and I am having surgery on Friday and will be taking the time to heal.
After my mastectomy, I had reconstruction, and the implants that were put in have been recalled because they are causing cancer. Can you believe that? I will be having those removed on Friday and exchanged with different ones. It’s such a bummer, but I need to get them out. There is a silver lining, though! While I am under anesthesia, I am going to let my surgeon lift my neck! My neck has been bothering me for about four or five years now, and I have wanted to do this. I’m already going to be out so might as well kill two birds with one stone (I heard that that saying is not politically correct anymore, but I’m still saying it). It’s a good thing that it’s winter so that I can wear turtlenecks and scarves for a while!
So, in 2020, my goal is to increase my bone density. I just ordered this Vibration Plate Machine. One of my doctors told me to get one to increase bone density. Have any of you tried one of these machines? I’m looking forward to using it (if my husband can put it together!) as soon as I can.

I wish each one of you the very Merriest Christmas! I hope that you all feel the love and peace of Jesus this Christmas and into the new year. I also wish you the Happiest New Year! I hope you can take the time to write down what you are hoping for this next year. I think writing down your hopes and dreams brings them to life, and I recommend taking some time to do that.
Sending big hugs! xx

Hi Cathy,
Sending you love and healing thoughts. I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis 3 years ago and I have reversed it with weight lifting and walking with a weighted vest as well as farting my gut microbiome under control and changing my supplements. Should you cancer treatment have created the OP situation just know there is so much hope. And whole body vibration is indeed an emerging technology in the OP world. A prestigious Bone Health program in Australia is currently studying whole body vibration and OP. Anyway, lots of positive things can come from this foot incident…even if it’s just you educating women on the risks.
I have a free workbook on my website if you are interested in exploring my approach.

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. If you come to LA I’d love to give you a hug in real life!! Sending abundant love and light, Barbie xo

Hi, sending prayers and healing thoughts to you, for head to toe wellness! I thought I would share: I had osteopenia and took meds for years, then had to stop because I timed out on the meds; I also took calcium supplements for years per internist instructions. After many years, learned, from my internist, that I should take half the calcium at night and half at morning because the body does not metabolize that much calcium at one time (it is is the normal dose, over the counter stuff)….who knew? Ever since I started to split the doses, no low scores on my bone density tests! If my doc mentioned it earlier, I did not pick up on it, but I think taking it in two doses makes a diff!! I also take a little extra Vit D (had to take a LOT to get my levels up in the beginning, before they stabilized). I don’t know, might help, sharing info with a super gal who is great to share so much with all of us!!!

Hi Cathy, this is Beverly Ward from the flight to Montana. I’m sorry for your medical issues and hope you heal as quickly as possible. I appreciate your candor about your neck surgery. I’ve been wanting to have that done as well. So, I’m interested to hear how it all goes. Good for you for taking time off.
Have a great Christmas and best wishes for great health and happiness in 2020.

Hi Cathy,
Wishing you the best and knowing you will come out on the other side of this even more beautiful than before. You will love your new neck (I did!) and wish you did it years ago. Be sure to take it easy and just relax and let yourself heal. Lots of binge TV and thinking about yourself for a change! Merry Christmas and best wishes!!

Hope your surgery goes well and your recovery is quick. As I am a breast cancer survivor on estrogen suppressing meds, and in addition to the chemo I had earlier this year I’m concerned about my bone density as well. already have osteoporosis and am on meds for it but would love more info on this machine to increase the density. When you’re recovered I’d love to hear your thoughts. Be well and happiest of holidays to you.

Cathy… love your fashion blog but love your straight talk about cancer more. I think so much that you share is not something a Dr. can share without going through it. I just had a biopsy for a lump that found the previous biopsy had been done with non- disable stitches which then gathered more scar tissue from the breast cancer radiation. It feels so much better now.
Wishing you the best! Thank you and Merry Christmas ???????? ❄️☃️????

Prolia injection got my bone density back to normal. And on their site you can get a card that covers the cost. Only twice a year so you don’t have to take pills that mess up your stomach.

I have used another Vibration Machine for years, really helpful in so many ways, Recently, after my breast cancer/mastectomy, my oncologist put me on estrogen-blocking medication. It can compromise bone density as well, so I did a bone density baseline test. It was off the charts for my age! Hooray! I can’t help but think my past use of the vibration machine helped. I will know more in a year. Additionally, my medication does cause muscle soreness and this machine is amazing to help counter that as well.
I am going for part 2 of my reconstruction on March 4. Best of luck to you and sorry that you need to go through this again. But health comes first and as we learn more, changes are essential.
Here’s to a healthy 2020. Cathy
