SMALL BUSINESS LOVE
SMALL BUSINESS LOVE
Happy Friday! How was your week? I had my “real” first outing by myself yesterday to Target (I’m such a big girl!). My husband goes to the grocery, so I haven’t been to a store in over, what, five weeks! It’s so strange to see everyone in a mask. One thing is for sure; you can save a lot of time on your makeup. You only have to put on eyes because that’s all anyone is going to see! I, for one, do not like it. I want to see people’s smiles, and there are none to see!
Anyway, I was surprised by how many people were out in Dallas. Our shelter in place date has been moved to May 15. I think the natives are getting restless! I think the governor is letting some businesses open (sort of) today. And I feel so bad for everyone, but especially for small businesses. So today I wanted to mention a few in Dallas and out of town that I love. Maybe you can find some inspiration for Mother’s Day or graduation gifts!
SMALL BUSINESSES I LOVE
I’m using these photos because they were taken back in March and I paid for them, but the jacket I am wearing is from Judith & Charles, who I wrote about here. They are a small Canadian company with a presence in the US, and I love their brand. They make beautiful and well-priced classic pieces.
One Dallas designer, Koch, has teamed up with one of the cutest, sweetest, and seriously lovable (youngest) bloggers, Much Love Sophie, to create these adorable masks. They are making masks and donating half of the masks to the frontline workers, and the other half is available for you. 10 % of sales will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank.
I am also obsessed with Ripley Radar, a Los Angeles designer who is making the most stylish mask I have seen! I ordered this sequin one! For every mask ordered, she donates two to at-risk patients and healthcare workers in need.
Equilibria is a CBD brand that I completely trust! These little soft gels have helped me sleep during this crazy time.
Love these sandals from Magnafied. They are a Danish / California brand that makes handmade clogs and sandals. I have been living in mine!
Pause Well-Aging Skincare is a brand new to me but targeted for women who are in perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. Their products are made free from these synthetics and fillers: BHT, BHA, EDTA, formaldehyde, GMOs, mineral oils, parabens, petrolatum, phthalates, propylene glycol, sulfates, and triclosan. We’ve also left out any animal by-products and do not test on animals. I have enjoyed trying them out.
More Skincare
Another skincare brand that I have a personal love of is Dallas based, Colleen Rothschild. I have been using her products for quite a while now and love them. I highly recommend the eye serum (game-changer), the Face Oil #9, the Cleansing Balm, this mask, and the Quench & Shine shampoo!
Another game-changer for me has been Guide Beauty. This brand makes it so easy to put on eyeliner, mascara, and eyebrows with their designed tools. Check them out!
I am obsessed with Prai Beauty products too, and especially love the products for the neck. These are cruelty-free products that give back to animal rescue projects. There is a 20% Off Site-Wide Sale now.
My favorite self-tanner is from a pair of cute Dallas girls. It’s called Opalens and is created with good for you ingredients and the first self-tanner to include CBD. It smells incredible and gives a beautiful color!
Another brand new to me that is genius is called Moderne Monocle. They have come up with a monocule necklace. How many times have you forgotten your readers or don’t want to dig them out of your bag at the grocery or while shopping to read the ingredients or price (that was wordy!)? These necklaces solve all of your reading problems! They are also giving 10% of every sale to COVID-19 relief fund.
Jewelry
A jewelry brand that has a fresh concept is Monbouquette. Check them out here. They are donating 15% of all purchases to Direct Relief, a non-profit that works in the United States and internationally to equip nurses and doctors with lifesaving medical resources for battling Covid-19.
My favorite jewelry brand is called OpalMilk. The designer is my gorgeous daughter in law. She is the most talented and creative person I know and makes the most beautiful pieces.
Here are some of my favorite smaller businesses in Dallas that I support!
Well, I wish I had something exciting to tell you I was doing but no such luck. We are hanging out and doing the same thing over and over! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Stay well! xx

What a very stylish and versatile jacket! Love your cute bag too! I haven t been to the stores for six weeks. Yesterday friends stopped by for a drink in our garden, with enough distance and it felt a bit strange at first! It s nog good to have no Social contacts for such a long time. Hope to see you on my Fancy Friday linkup party!

Hi, Nancy! It really is a great jacket! I haven’t stepped into a store except for the grocery and target. We’ve done a little social distancing happy hour a few times, and I am with you. Strange but very much needed! I hope you have a great week!

Thanks for the suggestions! I ordered several of the skin care products you recommended and the adorable sequin mask! You blog is always a treat to read. I am trying hard to support local small businesses in NOLA. Such a hard time for everyone—-thanks for bringing some sunshine into our days.

Hi, Debora! I hope you are doing well! I am so glad you got some skincare items. I hope you like them! How adorable is the sequin mask? I gave one to my mom and all of her friends are dying over it! You are so sweet to comment! I hope you are doing really well! Sending you love!
