WEDDING GUEST DRESS
WEDDING GUEST DRESS
Happy Tuesday, friends! I have been playing catch-up so far this week. We went to Nashville on Friday for the weekend to attend our good friend’s son’s wedding. We had dinner on Friday night at Drusie & Darr (a Jean-Georges restaurant) with a couple who are lifelong friends. I can’t believe we have never been. It was fabulous, and the room was just beautiful. Nashville has come a long way in the restaurant department since we lived there. We visited several friends on Saturday before attending a beautiful wedding on Saturday night. It’s so much fun to go back to Nashville for events because we get to see all our friends in one place. Speaking of weddings, my fabulous friend Janet and I shot a wedding guest dress look when I was in L.A. a few weeks ago because Spring is the start of wedding season and lots of other celebrations!
WEDDING GUEST DRESS CODE
First, when dressing to attend a wedding, it’s essential to find out the dress code. A little refresher for you…
- Black tie (or black tie optional)- The most formal dress code. Women are encouraged to wear a floor-length gown or cocktail dress, and men should wear a tuxedo.
- Formal – This is a slightly less formal dress code. Women should wear a cocktail dress, skirt (or palazzo pant), and blouse, and men should wear a suit and tie.
- Semi-formal – This is a dressy but casual dress code. Women can wear a dress, skirt (palazzo pants), and blouse or a pantsuit. Men can wear a dress shirt, pants, and tie.
- Casual – The most casual dress code. Women can wear sundresses or any casual outfit. Men can wear khakis and shirts.
I would always advise erring on the side of caution when choosing an outfit, especially if you aren’t sure what to wear. It’s always better to dress a little more formally.
WHAT TO WEAR TO A FORMAL WEDDING
Janet and I chose these looks for a formal wedding guest. She is wearing the most fun sequinned holographic dress with my (personal) favorite Bottega Veneta sandals in a fun grape color (similar here, on sale, and here). She added a beautiful white cropped blazer (similar) and a pop of hot pink with her satin bag (similar)! Her look says, “It’s party time”!
I chose a gorgeous purple high/low and flounce ruffle hem dress that moves elegantly as you walk. It has a self-belt to give it shape. For those that don’t like to show their arms, a pretty wrap or I would drape this blazer over my shoulders. I love silver with purple, so I wore a silver sandal and used a silver clutch (similar). What I love about this dress is that it can also be dressed down with a pair of flat sandals. I have picked out a few more beautiful dresses below.
Do you dread wearing shoes for weddings and events where you are standing for a while, or do your feet just hurt with specific shoes? My feet never hurt at the wedding this past weekend because of this nifty invention! I want to introduce you to The Foot Cloud. This is a “Why didn’t I think of that kind of product!” The Foot Cloud are reusable adhesive gel cushions that you wear on the ball of your foot and heel. Plus, you can wear them with any style of shoe. BRILLIANT!
I have a lot of work cut out for me this week. I have several posts and an Instagram Reel that has to be done. I am trying to get better at the whole Instagram Reel thing. There is so much to learn, and I don’t have the time I need to spend on learning. I honestly don’t know how everyone else gets it done. I am a work in progress! The spring is flying by and Mother’s Day and Graduations will be here before we know it!
I hope you all have a great week! Stay safe and Be well! xx
