CLASSIC BLACK AND WHITE
Good Morning, everyone! I hope all of you are doing well! We returned home from Los Angeles on Friday night just in time for me to unpack and pack again. I left bright and early on Saturday morning with my mom and brother to drive to Austin to attend a celebration of life for my cousin who passed away from colon cancer.
He was only forty-nine years old and left behind a precious wife and daughter. He was a famous tattoo artist in Austin, and there were probably three hundred people there to celebrate his life. I talk a lot about breast cancer, but cancer is cancer—a reminder for everyone to be proactive with their health. If something seems different or off, please get it checked out. It’s all about early detection!
CLASSIC BLACK AND WHITE
I went shopping in LA and again yesterday; this is my least favorite time of year to do that. I am thinking to Fall already (because it’s so fricking hot here), but summer is still in the stores, and I’m kind of over it. It’s hard to be creative when it’s this hot, so I am going with black and white. Do you ever have periods when you want to change your entire look? Last week, I told my husband in LA that I wanted to change mine. I think classic black and white makes a lot of sense. Everything goes together and always looks chic. It probably isn’t as fun, but I am going to try and go a little more that way.
Let me tell you about my favorite pair of pants from Evereve for summer. I am obsessed with this linen blend fabric pant with a wide leg (better for airflow!). It’s a great pair to dress up or down, and they fit me like a glove. I am typically a 24, but I found them to run a bit small, so I got the 25. They have just enough stretch to be super comfortable and are on sale for under $110 in the black and safari. They are also on sale in a blue chambray fabric here. As we advance to fall, they are offered in a cotton blend sateen (not on sale but still a great price) in several fall colors.
I paired the pants with a white tee, but not any white tee. How fun is this tee with the one-shoulder ruching? I love white tees, and this one has some personality to it. Also, I found these super cool Bottega sandals that go with everything. I know they are expensive, but I wear them with everything. I will let you in on a secret.
So, I got them on Gilt. I think I saved about a hundred dollars, but any savings is good, right? Gilt always has Bottega Veneta, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Gucci, Fendi, Golden Goose, and more. It’s one of those sites you must watch, but I have bought some great shoes from Gilt that are still in the stores. My bag is vintage, but I found one on Fashionphile that is very similar. I’m also wearing a new evil eye necklace (in green). My husband gave it to me for my “cancerversary.” I have wanted it for over a year!
My older son, wife, and kids will be here on Thursday. They will arrive with what is in their car and move in with us for a bit. They still have not found a house here, and it’s pretty slim pickings. We have the room, and it will be fun for a while (just kidding). I love it when they are here! They’ve done it before, but the kids are older and need more space now. I’m just so happy they are coming back!
I hope you all have a great day! Stay well and be safe!

Can’t go wrong with B&W! I bought similar sandals for a fraction from Sam Edelman.

I hear you. I am not creative with clothes to begin with and I feel like I am on the extremes. One day I want to be super colorful and the next I just want to wear all black. But I love black and it is such a timeless color that goes so well with the classic white. You look so chic in this outfit and yes to that fun detail on your shirt. Simple yet beautiful and unique! And yay to family time with your older son and family.

Thanks for promoting Gilt! I’ve purchased high end skincare and hair products, as well as Golden Goose sneakers, Valentino shoes, and Chloe bags that were selling at full price at the same time in the department stores. Rue La La (connected to Gilt) is also a great site to shop at for luxury goods.
