SPRING JACKETS FOR WOMEN OVER 50: CHIC, MODERN STYLES YOU’LL WEAR ON REPEAT

Happy Easter Weekend! What are you all doing this weekend? We will go to church and have the family (missing a few) over for Easter dinner. This has been a busy week getting Easter baskets ready, filming videos, and starting physical therapy again after my PRP shot last week (mentioned it here). Oh, I haven’t told you about how that went. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it was absolutely the most painful forty seconds (or so) I’ve ever experienced in my life (remember I’ve been through cancer and three births). I have a pretty strong pain tolerance (no pain medicine could be given with this shot), but after that shot was removed, I started sobbing. I couldn’t help it; it just started to flow. I hope I never ever have to do that again! My doc said it can take up to three months for it to work. I’m still suffering with gluteal tendonitis over here. Fingers crossed!

I can’t believe we are already into April, and you know what that means: April showers! And if you live in Dallas, lots of wind! The wind in Dallas can get crazy. I think I’ve written this fact before, but did you know Dallas is windier than Chicago? I don’t even know why I try with my hair in the spring. Anyway, with all that said, I wanted to share my favorite spring jackets (because we need them). This season, I’m keeping things simple, polished, and just a little bit interesting with a few standout jackets that work beautifully for women over 50—without feeling the least bit “safe” or predictable.

Let me show you two that I’m loving right now—and how they fit into a well-rounded spring wardrobe.

The Cropped Navy Jacket: Classic with a Twist

There’s something about navy that just works in spring—it’s softer than black but still polished and timeless. What I love about this cropped jacket: The shorter length keeps proportions modern (especially with white denim), and adds structure without feeling heavy. It gives a subtle nod to a trench—but in a more wearable, everyday way. I found this navy timeless (trench style)  jacket that will elevate a casual look and keep you warm while doing it. A cropped jacket is incredibly flattering (especially for those over 50) because it visually lifts your silhouette, regardless of your height.

The Lightweight Brown Jacket: Relaxed but Elevated

This is the kind of jacket you’ll reach for when you want to look put-together… but not too put-together. What makes this one special? The slightly relaxed fit keeps it modern and effortless (but still intentional), and the rich brown adds warmth and looks fantastic with white. It is slightly oversized and has a bubble hem for a puffy silhouette.

My other choices for Spring Jackets:

• The Long Trench Coat

A forever staple. Whether traditional or updated (like a cropped version), it instantly elevates any outfit. This one is my personal favorite (and I actually own it). I think it looks super cool, and I am not one to use a belt. If you like a belted trench, this one is super chic.

• The Raincoat

Because real life includes weather. Look for one with a clean silhouette—bonus points if it doesn’t scream “rain gear.” I love this one in blue, but I would probably order the black. If you want a real spring-looking raincoat, this one is it!

• The Denim Jacket

Perfect for casual days. Choose a slightly tailored or modern cut (look how cute this one is!) to avoid looking dated. I also like this classic one.

• The Utility Jacket

Great for travel and everyday wear. Think lightweight, functional, and just structured enough. How cute is this one for spring? This one is just a classic that you will have forever.

• The Blazer (Lightweight)

For those moments when you want to feel polished—but still spring-appropriate. I just purchased this blazer and love it. It comes in off-white, mauve, and navy as well. I also have this one in my cart. Spring has sprung!

What I’ve learned over the years is this: You don’t need a closet full of options—you need pieces that work together and make getting dressed feel easy. All of these jackets do exactly that. They elevate simple basics; they feel modern, not trendy, and they make you feel confident. And honestly, that would be the goal!

I’ve started posting on Substack. You will find some different content there. If you are interested, check it out here!

I hope you all have a beautiful Easter weekend. HE IS RISEN!

Stay well and Be safe! xx
