HOW TO STYLE SPRING BLAZERS OVER 50+ WITH THE SAME MOTHER JEANS

HOW TO STYLE SPRING BLAZERS OVER 50+ WITH THE SAME MOTHER JEANS

If you own great jeans but don’t own a great spring blazer… we need to talk. Because nothing, and I mean nothing, elevates a simple pair of jeans faster than a beautifully cut blazer. For women over 50, this is the wardrobe hero piece. It gives structure where we want it, polish without trying too hard, and that effortless “she has her life together” energy (even if we, meaning me, absolutely do not).

Today I’m sharing how I styled my favorite Mother jeans three ways with three different blazers ( and one with my gal-pal So Heather Blog) — and why a spring blazer is one of the smartest style investments you can make.

Why a Spring Blazer Is a Must-Have for Women Over 50

Let’s be honest. As we get older, shapeless doesn’t do us any favors.

A spring blazer for women over 50:

  • Defines your waist

  • Creates clean lines

  • Smooths the silhouette

  • Instantly elevates denim

It’s the easiest way to elevate a casual outfit for spring. And when paired with these Mother jeans? It’s modern, flattering, and completely age-appropriate without being the least bit matronly.

This first blazer is one I am obsessed with from Destree. It’s denim, but it’s so feminine. How cute are the pockets? What I love about a lighter blazer is that it softens the look and reflects light toward your face, which we love at this stage of life. Paired with dark Mother jeans, the contrast keeps it sharp rather than washed out. This is the kind of outfit that says, “I understand trends,” without trying too hard. This look feels fresh and modern, not corporate, and works beautifully with simple gold jewelry and a structured handbag.

The second look is a tailored tuxedo-style black blazer over a simple neutral tee, paired with the same Mother flare jeans, which immediately adds length and polish. The structure on top balances the subtle flare at the hem, and the darker wash feels refined, not weekend sloppy. This blazer is from Mrs. Momma Bear, a brand I was not familiar with, but I am so happy I am now. This blazer is made of nylon and spandex, and I swear it feels like something you could even travel in… it’s that comfortable. How stunning is this incredibly beautiful white gardenia brooch by Helena Simon? These brooches are crafted individually as an expression of her personal style. Today, Helena’s floral brooches are crafted at a world-class, fourth-generation floral atelier in New York using the highest-quality fabrics and materials. All I can tell you is that they are very special! This is how you wear jeans to lunch, dinner, or even a casual meeting and feel completely put together.

Why this look works over 50:

  • The structured shoulder lifts your whole frame.

  • The longer line of the blazer smooths the midsection.

  • A slight flare elongates the leg (especially with a heeled sandal).

For this last look, not every blazer has to be long and traditional. A slightly cropped or textured spring jacket paired with the same Mother jeans creates balance and adds interest. The key is that it still has structure — even if it’s shorter. I love this blue number from L’Agence. I added a silver bag and denim (old sandals) to this look. This is how you do casual chic at 50+ without looking like you borrowed something from your daughter’s closet.

Why it flatters:

  • A cropped length defines the waist.

  • High-rise Mother jeans are smooth and supportive.

  • Texture adds dimension without bulk.

How to Choose the Right Spring Blazer After 50

A few quick tips:

  •  Look for slight structure in the shoulders
  •  Make sure it skims the body — not oversized and boxy (however, I think an oversized can look good thrown over the shoulders.
  • Choose quality fabric that holds its shape
  •  Pay attention to sleeve length (a slight scrunch feels modern)
  • Don’t be afraid of tailoring

Fit is everything at this stage. A $200 blazer that fits beautifully will always outperform a trendy piece that doesn’t. I personally love to wear blazers with jeans. I think it gives the off a perfect balance between structure and ease. Blazers and jeans are a formula that you will wear on repeat!

I am so happy it is Friday, because I am one day closer to sleeping late! This week has wiped me out. I’ve had several videos to write and film, gone to several doctors’ appointments, and have not slept well (due to the below). I know I shared this somewhere, but I have been dealing with something for close to two years that is so painful. I have gluteal tendonopathy, and it is a real pain in the ass…literally! I mentioned that I had the most excruciating procedure called TENEX in November. I have been in physical therapy since the middle of January, and not much has changed. On the 24th of this month, I am having a PRP injection. My orthopedic flat out told me that it will be painful, and they can’t use lidocaine for some reason. I am already sweating it. He also told me that I would not like him for about three days after. I have never met anyone who has dealt with this before. You know what the messed-up part of this is? Apparently, it affects women who are smaller and have gone through menopause! What’s new, right? Everything is from menopause!!!!

It’s supposed to rain tomorrow, so I am already preparing to take a nap with my dog (who had 14 teeth pulled yesterday!). I hope you all have a great weekend! Thank you for reading!

Be well and Stay safe! xx
