CLEAN BEAUTY
Happy Friday, Ladies! We’re a little over halfway into January, and it’s now when even the best-intentioned New Year’s resolutions can start to falter. The new exercise regimen gets derailed by the messes life can throw at us, or that goal of waking up early to meditate becomes less desirable when staying in bed feels so dang comfy! (I’m guilty of that last one)
Well, I’m here to tell you that it’s OKAY! It’s perfectly fine to give yourself the space to deal with daily life’s messes and then return to your goal. It’s okay to start slow and take as much time as you need to reach that goal. Don’t worry if you need to tweak the goals you’ve chosen. Even if, in the end, you decide this is not your goal. The key is listening to your inner self and staying true to what makes you happy!
CLEAN BEAUTY
One of my goals for this year is to swap out my makeup and skin products for cleaner, more sustainable options. It seems like more and more, we’re seeing recalls on products that were deemed safe for years, and if you look at the ingredient list for many of your makeup items, you might be surprised by what you find! Our skin is our largest organ, and because of its exposure to outside elements, it’s also one of the most susceptible to damage.
First off, what is clean beauty? “Clean beauty” is a largely unregulated term created in response to the limited regulation of the beauty industry by consumers and companies wanting a choice. In broad terms, clean beauty products are those made without ingredients shown or suspected to harm human health. Your skin is the largest organ in your body, so it makes sense that you might want natural ingredients to use on it. My daughter introduced me to Credo, a website (and storefront) that only sells “clean beauty,” and most of the products I am highlighting are from them.
I am certainly no expert on clean beauty, but I wanted to share the products I use. I will finish up with my older cosmetics and replace them with clean beauty moving forward. I will include more products at the bottom of the post that I have just started using or want to use. Also, I am including the clean skincare I am using.
The products I am currently using
Le Prunier Plum Beauty Oil – This multi-purpose oil for all skin types, especially congested, sensitive, and allergy-prone, helps balance, restore, and refresh the skin. It has a great texture and absorbs quickly. It’s rich in vitamins A & E to assist with healing and hydration and smells amazing! I have been using this oil for about five years now and couldn’t love it more.
Saint Jane Luxury Lip Cream– This is a vitamin-rich luxury lip cream filled with CBD. This lipstick is a unique skincare hybrid formula infused with soothing florals and botanicals like sunflower, jojoba, hemp extract, and avocado oils. There are six shades to choose from.
Jones Road The Best Blush– I love this blush! Bobbi Brown started Jones Road, and I am dying to try some of the other products from this brand. This is a silky powder formula that adds a soft natural flush or a pop of bright color to cheeks. It’s easy to use, buildable and blends seamlessly into the skin. It’s available in five shades and is talc-free. I am using the color P.O.P.
Westman Atelier Vital Pressed Skincare Powder– This micro-milled powder does more than just set. It’s ultra-sheer and feathery-light. This powder instantly smooths pores, evens tone, and sweeps away shine. It is made with vitamin C and probiotics and shields from free radicals while protecting from blue light. This works like makeup and acts like skincare. It’s talc and silicone free. I think it gives a beautiful finish!
Ilia C Beyond Triple Serum SPF 40– When I attended the Like to Know it conference in September, Illia was a sponsor and gave us whatever we wanted to try. I took home several products, and this C Beyond Triple Serum 40 is great! This is a groundbreaking 3-1 serum with encapsulated vitamin C, mineral SPF 40, and niacinamide in a waterless base for brighter skin instantly and over time. It’s great for all skin types, including dry and mature skin. I use this before I apply my foundation. It leaves skin with a sheer, glowy finish with no white cast.
Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Complexion Drops– This is a serum/foundation that works with your skin, not over it. It gives breathable coverage and radiance while improving skin quality. Loaded with skincare actives, it hydrates, evens tone, and soothes. It also improves texture, firmness, and radiance with Tsubaki oil, Ginseng, and Pomegranate extract. It works well for dry, normal, and combination skin types. I can’t tell you how much I love these drops! This foundation gives light to medium coverage.
RÓEN BEAUTY 11:11 Eye Shadow Palette– Okay, I have been trying these eyeshadow palettes for over a year. I have three palettes, and the colors are beautiful. The formula combines cream and powder formulated with pearl reflects to give illumination. The colors are metallic and can be applied with your fingers or this brush. I will be honest; these are a little messy, so I use them before I do the rest of my face.
ILIA True Skin Serum Concealer– Another Ilia product that I have switched to is the concealer. This lightweight serum concealer evens and brightens the look of skin over time with vitamin C and is available in 20 shades. It’s great for all skin types- dry, mature, sensitive, and blemish-prone. It color corrects and perfects with a creaseless formula that doesn’t cake. It gives medium coverage and blends seamlessly under the eyes and over spots. It also protects the skin from environmental damage while you wear it.
Tower 28 OneLiner Multi-Liner– This is a creamy-matte, high-pigment multi-use liner for lips. It can be used on the eyes, but I’ve never tried it that way. It gives lasting color and is very moisturizing. No tugging or dragging! I use the color Fill Me In.
Ellis Brooklyn Myth Eau de Parfum– This is not exactly cosmetic, but I wanted to share my favorite clean perfume. I have been wearing this off and on for about five years. Ellis Brooklyn has different scents, but the Myth is my favorite. I love darker scents like musk, amber, patchouli, and vanilla. This parfums top notes are bergamot, ambrette seeds, and cassis, and the mid notes are tiger orchid, pink lotus, and jasmine petals. It smells divine! My daughter loves the Fawn, which is a lighter scent.
Am I missing out on any great clean beauty products you have tried? I would love to know!
Have a great weekend! Be well and Stay safe! xx
