FRESH START FOR SUMMER: FACIAL FILLERS FROM RESTYLANE®

Good Morning, everyone! Today I wanted to share with you something that I did for myself, that made me feel better about me. As you know, I truly believe you can be Chic at Any Age, and what better time to embrace that motto than at the start of summer! I really wanted to use the season to make a fresh start, making sure that I’m feeling and looking like my best self. I think it’s important to take care of ourselves, and with summer being a time of rebirth, I wanted to do something that would give me a refreshed look. I have always believed that when you look your best, you feel your best and that I shouldn’t have to settle for looking a certain way just because of my age! While I’m a mother and grandmother, I don’t feel like one, and wanted to start out 2018 feeling young and looking vibrant. We’re never too old for self-improvement!

In order to do this, I partnered with Restylane and went to Dr. Jordan Rihani, MD (in Southlake, Texas) to discuss some of Restylane’s newest facial fillers. Restylane is a global leader focused on medical solutions in skin health, and I wanted to learn more about two of their FDA approved products, Restylane ® Refyne and Restylane ® Defyne. I have used neurotoxins (for those pesky 11 lines that form between your eyebrows) for a long time now, but HA dermal fillers are somewhat new to me, and I wanted to make sure that I was getting the right ones for me. Have you all done them?

Dr. Rihani (or as I like to call him, Dr. Ri-hottie!) is a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. We had a consultation together in which he listened to what was bugging me; then he suggested what he thought would make me look my best and what products he would use. I know if you’ve never had facial fillers, the thought of it can be sort of scary. It does involve needles going into your face after all-but I made my appointment anyway and am SO glad I did! The day of the appointment, I got there about an hour early to have numbing cream applied to the areas of my face he would inject. After an hour, he started the injections. Dr. Rihani used Restylane Defyne for my smile lines. Dr. Rihani also injected Restylane® Lyft in my cheeks, and I love the results!

So, what is Restylane Defyne? It is an injected gel that contains hyaluronic acid (HA). It’s a naturally occurring sugar that is already in our bodies! Restylane Defyne uses XpresHAnTechnology™ so that you still look natural even when express yourself. There are some side effects of getting injectables. The ones I have experienced are bruising and swelling. I am a huge bruiser and know that whenever I do this, I am going to bruise. I usually get a few small ones, and one whopper like I did this time. There is a product I like from Jane Iredale that is great for camouflaging!

I am so happy with my results! The Restylane Defyne may last up to 1 year. I know that there are a lot of women who want to grow older gracefully, and I respect that. I think we all get to choose how we want to deal with the effects of aging on our skin. I am a bit of a fighter! I don’t get facials very often and have never had lasers, but this is the way I have chosen to address the issues that bother me so I can continue to maintain my confidence as I get older. With this treatment, I look like a better version of myself- not too young, and still really natural. It’s safe to say I’m ready to take on the rest of 2018!

If you do choose to get fillers or any procedure on your face, be sure to do your research and choose a doctor who is certified in these types of fillers.
