When February rolls around, we often think of “love” because of Valentine’s Day. We spend a lot of time and money getting cards and gifts for our loved ones, to let them know how much we love them. That’s all fine and great, and we need to do it, but do you ever really think about the love you have for yourself? I know that is sort of a strange question, but as women, we get so busy trying to do for everyone else, that we sometimes forget about ourselves.
I am one of those women, who was always doing for my family and not really nurturing myself. I was a huge worrier and had a lot of anxiety trying to be “the perfect” mom , wife (my husband might not agree, haha!), mother in law, daughter, friend, and… the list goes on. I would get run down and was always tired (and if the truth be known,
really cranky). Eating right, that was a joke! The other thing that I spent way too much time and anxiety on was the way I looked, especially in my forties. I was watching myself get older, but feeling like I was still in my twenties. I would buy anything that claimed to “get rid of wrinkles”, or “lift sagging skin”. I was probably dressing younger than I should have been too! When I look back at all of those years I spent living that way, it makes me sad! I really didn’t take the time to “love myself” for who I was.
What changed me? A big ol’ dose of breast cancer. I hate to say it, but it’s really the truth! As bad as being diagnosed with cancer and the treatments that come along with it, it really did change me. Now, am I recommending it? HELL NO, but it taught me about me! While everyone else was going about their merry way, I was forced to be at home with me. I spent more time with God, started eating the right foods, rested a lot, and spent quality time with my family. One of the hardest things for me, was really looking at myself as a sick and bald “cancer” patient. That my friends, is hard place to be! As horrible as I thought I looked, the more I seemed to give myself a break and be happy with me! Even in what I felt and thought was my ugliest, I was happier and more at peace with myself than I ever have been in my life. I think I finally realized that I am so lucky and blessed to be here, and that I needed to love me (flaws and all), and be happy for every single moment. I think that hits every one of us at a different time in life, but if I can stress anything, it would be to love yourself now and live each day to the fullest!
Now, do I just abandon my desire to still look my best? Never, but I don’t buy anything and everything like I used to. One thing that I have been using and love, is a product called The Revitalizer, by BIOSSANCE. It is a weightless moisturizer that can be used from head to toe. It’s main ingredient is plant derived squalane (meaning it doesn’t come from sharks like most squalane does). You can use it on hands, hair, body, dry patches, wherever! So, I was thrilled when BIOSSANCE came out with a new product called, The Nourisher ($72.00). The Nourisher is a face oil blended with an elixir of roses (Damascus rose extract to be exact) designed to keep skin radiant, supple and smooth. This product has 100% plant-derived squalane, which acts as a barrier to protect skin from moisture loss, Vitamin C, to give skin a healthy glow, and Chios Crystal Oil, which is derived from trees native to Greece, to leave skin firm and soft!
The nice thing about these products, is that you can incorporate them into whatever you are using. It’s not a full system of bottles that need to work together. I just add them before I put on moisturizers (I have really dry skin). I use The Nourisher on my face, lips, as well as around my eyes when I feel really dry, and I mix The Revitalizer in my lotion to use on my legs and hands in the winter. I really recommend trying both products, but if you are more interested in products for the face, I think you will love The Nourisher (For a limited time, they are giving a $15 facial sponge with your order).
Biossance is running a giveaway where 50 lucky people will win a free deluxe sample of The Nourisher, and 10 people will win Biossance’s future skin care line (available in March). It’s simple to enter…simply follow Biossance on Instagram, then Instagram your own photo, with “I love my self most” , then mention @biossance and tag #selflovegoals. Good Luck!!!
Thank you so much for stopping by, and try to be kind to you!
