SLITHERING IN WITH A SNAKE PRINT BLAZER
Hi, sweet friends! I hope you had a great weekend! We went to watch my nephew play football on Friday night. It took me way back to when my boys played and the fun memories of that time. We didn’t watch the SMU-TCU game because my husband thinks we jinx it by watching, but I am so excited and happy for my team, SMU! I feel so sorry for them year after year and am so thrilled with where they are right now. Go Ponies! We had a fun dinner with friends on Saturday night. Yesterday, I had to take our puppy to the Emergency Clinic. She got her rabies shot on Tuesday of last week and has been having stomach issues all week. Anyway, I wanted to slither into your Monday and show this chic black snake print blazer before it sells out.
I bought this black snake print blazer at the beginning of August because it was such a good transition piece. Unfortunately, it’s still been too warm to wear it during the day, but I have worn it at night. I love it mixed with this curry color graphic tee. I paired it with my black denim (similar pair) but will wear it with blue denim and black leather jeans. I have dressed it up with a silk cami and silk blouse too. There is a matching pair of skinny pants that go with the blazer to make a hot looking suit (unfortunately they don’t fit me, or I would have bought them)! Blazers are my favorite piece of clothing because you can dress them up or down, and they always make the outfit look more polished. I am also wearing my favorite pumps from Benincasa Milano. They are THE most comfortable pumps, and I promise that I can wear them for hours! The necklace I have on is a vintage Louis Vuitton lock and key. I wish I could remember who I bought this necklace from. I got it two summers ago in Highlands, NC at a showhouse, but, I found some similar ones here!
I was looking for quotes about snakes to liven this post up and stumbled across this one. “Life feels like a game of Snakes and Ladders, but without any ladders,” David Moody. It struck me not for this post, but because of how it sums up last week for us. Last week was nothing more than shitty! We got horrible news several times about friends of ours. A cancer diagnosis ( for two friends) and the death of a child. Life doesn’t seem fair sometimes. I have to remember that God is in control and His plan is so much bigger. It doesn’t mean that it doesn’t stink, though!
Praying for my friends and hoping this week brings better news and energy. Love your friends and neighbors, everyone, because the battles are fierce out there! I hope you all have a great week and thank you for reading!

Hi Cathy!
We’re UNC-Chapel Hill fans and my husband is the same way. Sometimes he won’t wash his car because he thinks it’s bad luck! I think it’s hilarious!
I’m loving your blazer and the tee you’ve paired it with! You’ve got great style!

Love your look – casual but polished!
So sorry to hear about the sad news. I also learned this weekend that one of my best friends from grad school was just diagnosed with incurable cancer. She was a bit older than the rest of us who hung out together – like the mom of the group I feel blessed to have known her, and am so sad right now. 🙁

So many difficult things in life. So sorry for your tough week. I sometimes wonder if it’s more accurate to think of God being “in charge” instead of “in control.” It’s a subtle shift in thinking, but it seems to fit with the way God designed life on earth. I wrote more about my wonderings on: https://www.livingaspiritledlife.com/?s=in+charge
Thanks for the fun post. I think a taco tee might be added to my closet!
Hope your daughter is doing well.
