Good Morning! I am fighting off some stupid sinus allergy, or I might be getting a sinus infection, but I have never blown my nose so much in my life (that’s pretty dramatic, but feeling that way)! I got a Gingerbread/ Buttercream Frosting massage (that’s what it is called) yesterday and thought my nose would run down on the masseuse’s foot, but she put eucalyptus on an eye mask for me, and I swear it kept my nose from running. Alas, it’s back at it again. If you live in Dallas, go to Vivian’s Boutique and Spa for the best, most hydrating massage that smells like gingerbread frosting! How do you like this Buffalo check skirt? Girls, Buffalo checks are popping up everywhere right now!
Buffalo Check Sweater Skirt
I am loving this trumpet flare sweater skirt from Ann Taylor. It is such a cute fit with an elastic waist and comes in a matching mock neck sweater. It’s kind of nice to see some wintery checks instead of glitz, sparkle, and sequin right now (although, I still like those). I have seen Buffalo plaids on everything from shirts, sweaters, skirts, and dresses. This pattern has been around since 1850 and was introduced by the Woolrich family who apparently had a herd of Buffalo, or it could have originated in Scotland by a man who traded Buffalo pelts. I don’t think it matters who came up with it; I’m just glad it’s resurfaced again. You know, I think I like this plaid because I love gingham and it reminds me of gingham on steroids. Anyway, I found this skirt and thought it would be so fun to wear the plaid on something other than a shirt or sweater. I adore the colors together too!
Mixing With A Chain Print For Fun
I think the matching top is cute with the skirt, but I wanted to do something a little more creative. Another print that I have seen a lot is the scarf chain print (an ode to Chanel or Versace). I thought the blouse I am wearing was beautiful because of the color of the blue, and I said “what the heck” and threw it on with the skirt and an older leather jacket (exact jacket but mine is a little different blue). It makes the Buffalo print look fresh, and I love the way it looks! I think a solid white or navy turtleneck would look good with this skirt as well. Sometimes you have to experiment a little to see what combinations look good. Both of these pieces (actually everything in the store) are 40% off right now with code: WRAPITUP!
Don’t Get Rid of Your Leopard Prints Any Time Too Soon
I have found so many cute things this fall and holiday season at Ann Taylor (remember this?). Next week, I am posting my New Year’s Eve look, and guess where I got it? I was in need of a new black v-neck cashmere sweater (sold out but in other colors) this year and bought one the other day when I was in the store. The cashmere is so soft, and the price is insane (60% off). Also, leopard print isn’t going anywhere too soon, so if you don’t have the print, grab this shirt or these pumps now to wear into Spring (did I mention that EVERYTHING is 40% off!). Another piece I bought was this tank (well, I got it in every color) to wear under sweaters or jackets. It’s a basic but necessary!
I’m off to the kindergarten Christmas program that my little guy is in this morning and then all of us (both sets of grandparents and his mom and dad) are going to lunch. I still haven’t finished anything (cards or gift wrapping) but this is one of those times I won’t ever get back. I hope you all have a good day and get much accomplished! xx
Thank you, Ann Taylor, for sponsoring this post.
