CHOCOLATE BROWN BOYFRIEND BLAZER
CHOCOLATE BROWN BOYFRIEND BLAZER
Hi there! I hope you all are doing well! My house is full, and it’s been so fun to have my son, daughter-in-law, and kids here. There is never a dull moment or silence! I told them over the weekend that I hoped they were still here in October so that we could decorate for Halloween. I know they want to find a house (soon), but I secretly hope they are here through the holidays. It’s fun to have a little chaos! Speaking of going forward to Halloween, I found a fantastic linen (blend) boyfriend blazer in a deep chocolate brown that is perfect for the Southern fall. Chocolate brown is one of my favorite colors to wear in the fall, and this linen blend is just the right weight for fall in the South. I paired the blazer with a chocolate brown cowl neck camisole and a pair of flair jeans.
The boyfriend blazer and cami are perfect choices when it’s still hot, but you want to wear a fall look. I bought both pieces at Express, and you will love the prices. Both pieces combined are a little over $100! WooHoo!.These pants look great with the blazer if you want a monochromatic look, but I prefer a pair of denim. I’ve been out shopping lately, and I honestly have not been bowled over by very much. In between seasons is a hard time to get excited about, but fall is just around the corner. That’s why I think the chocolate brown blazer is a great choice going forward.
I’m not sure how many of you are on Instagram or TikTok.
I’ve said before that I have a hard time with it. I don’t know why I think I’m too old to get on and dance around like so many other women my age, but it doesn’t feel authentic to me. I’ve heard that everything will be going to video soon; therefore, Instagram will change some. I loved Instagram when it first came out. You could see beautiful images that were meaningful. Now, I feel like it’s turning into sell, sell, sell! How do you all feel about it? Do you like to see 50+-year-old women dancing around? Does it grab your attention? I’m really curious to hear what you all think. Can you tell I’m trying to make some decisions?
I have a hectic day. I was invited by the PR team for Victoria’s Secret to a personal shopping experience in the store to see what is new. Also, I haven’t shopped in Victoria’s Secret in a long time, so I’m anxious to see what they have. I am shooting today with a special “somebody” who will appear on the blog soon!
One more thing, I have fallen in love with a cleansing balm that removes makeup and impurities while it hydrates with shea butter and sunflower seed oil. It’s from Keys Soulcare. I read a great review on it and decided to try it. It is fantastic! I had no idea until yesterday that it was a line from Alicia Keys.
Have a great day! Stay well and be safe! xx

I say do what feels natural and right for you. I’m not planning on joining tiktok – I’m not an influencer but I just feel like that’s for the younger crowd. I am just on Instagram and hope that they don’t change to try to keep the younger crowd.

I agree with you about the videos. I, too, loved Instagram when the format was more like looking at a lovely magazine. Now, it’s like someone turned on an annoying television show and grabbed the channel changer to switch constantly. The women “of a certain age” dancing around showing off the shoes and outfits look like they are trying “too hard”, sometimes although I admit some of the videos are interesting.
I am not being much help at helping you decide whether to join them. I think that if you remain true to who you are and do it in a manner that feels authentic to you, that the videos can be a good thing.

I agree, Cathy. I used to love Instagram, but do not love all of the inane videos on there now. My 21-year-old daughter loves TikTok and shares a lot of videos with me. I enjoy some of what she shares and she recently convinced me to create an account. I honestly find very little that interests me on there and get frustrated with all of the “silliness” of it. I tend to gravitate back to Instagram. I know we need to keep up with change, and perhaps the videos will grow on me, but I still prefer the old Instagram style. Thanks for all of your style tips – your ideas help to push me out of my zone sometimes to find a new style I can embrace in my old age!

You look great in chocolate brown! It’s one of my favorite colors. I love the colors and all the sweaters of fall the best but hate to give up the summer.
I can’t stand Instagram any more. I used to be able to see pictures of family and friends but now it’s just ad after ad, sell, sell sell. I really have to weed through just to get to family photos.

I really enjoy instagram but I’m not on tik tok. I try not to click on the videos, but sometimes I can’t resist. I still find it the best place for creative inspiration.

Completely agree with you about Instagram. I used to enjoy it for the creativity and beautiful photos, but it’s completely obnoxious now. What bugs me most are the posts I see that begin with “Available for Commission”. That just really strikes me in a very negative way and I scroll right past them. I hardly ever go on anymore, though. Between the crazy videos blaring in my face and “influencers” feeling the need to register their personal political opinions or comments on the latest social issue, it’s just too much and so far from the original reason I began going on it in the first place. Now I find it trite and boring.

I think the only time older women should dance is to embarrass their kids:)!
Just kidding. I love to dance with my husband, but I don’t really want to see “older” women dance on Instagram.

Totally agree with you about Instagram and wish it wouldn’t change but instead open another site for all the silly videos, which I believe are best saved for the younger crowd. I personally follow you for age-appropriate style and posts. I don’t care much for the videos only because they really don’t show an outfit any better than photos and make one look like trying too hard to keep up with the video trends. I also don’t do, watch, or use TikToc and would worry about who’s really in charge of them and how much of your personal info is being shared and where. Lots of info out there on this and it’s not good.

Brown is one of my favorite colors and this blazer you featured looks so stunning! Perfect for the upcoming season. Yes, holidays with family is pure chaos but so worth it! Keeping my fingers crossed that they are still around through the holidays. But even if they did find a home soon, hopefully it will be close to you so that it feels like they never moved out. I no longer use IG. I just felt it was getting weird with selling and it started feeling inauthentic to me. I mean I can understand it’s a job that pays their livelihood for some. But I really don’t like the direction it’s taken.
