Hello ladies! Who has added a piece or two of leather to their fall wardrobe? If you live in the South, I know it’s still a little warm to wear, but believe me, you’ll want it as soon as there is a chill in the air. Leather is a timeless fabric that not only exudes sophistication but also offers versatility for women over 50. Here are a few reasons why leather should be at the top of your fall fashion list this year.
There is a TIMELESS ELEGANCE about leather. It never goes out of style! Whether it’s a classic jacket, a chic skirt, or leather jeans, leather adds a touch of refinement to any outfit. Because of its rich texture, it can elevate a simple outfit. Investing in leather means investing in LONGEVITY. With proper care, leather can last for years, becoming softer with age, making it a sustainable choice. I’ve had a pair of leather jeans for about ten years and still love them.
Fall fashion has always been about layering pieces; leather gives us the perfect LAYERING POTENTIAL. Think of all the different styles of leather jackets that can be paired with sweaters, scarves, long-sleeve tops, and different underpinnings that give endless options to mix and match (plus provide warmth). Leather transitions from day to night easily, making it very VERSATILE. Pair a leather skirt with a crisp white shirt for a polished daytime look, then swap a ” party top” and heel for a chic evening look.
As I’ve gotten older, I still want to look current yet appropriate. Leather gives a TOUCH OF EDGE to an outfit. A statement leather piece can transform a look, adding fun and boldness while still feeling current and stylish. Lastly, there are so many rich colors of leather for fall, including burgundy, deep green, and chocolate brown. Black is always my first choice, but having COLOR VARIETY allows you to express your style.
So, what am I wearing today? I found this chic black faux leather skirt and paired it with a leopard top and Quince cashmere cardigan (I am obsessed with their cashmere!). I obviously can take the cardigan off when it’s still 90 degrees outside! My belt is a vintage Chanel, but here is a similar one. My bag is from Aupen and, unfortunately, sold out. They cannot keep these bags in stock!
