STICKING WITH BASICS FOR NOW
Happy Friday, my friends! I hope you all have had a great week. One of my best friends from Nashville came in yesterday to stay for the weekend. There is nothing better than being with good friends, especially those that have been in your life for a long time. We love to go and get in lots of trouble together (meaning shopping, eating, and drinking wine)! I’m going to enjoy this weekend with her before I fly to Alabama on Sunday for the funeral of my Alabama besties, son. Such a tragedy!
STICKING WITH BASICS FOR NOW
So on our shopping excursion yesterday, we noticed something. We noticed that a lot of what is in the stores was not for us. Have you all been shopping lately? If you haven’t, I will fill you in. Everything has cut-outs. First of all, I’m not about to wear a severeĀ cut-out dress or matching top and skirt. They might look okay standing up, but can you imagine when you sit down? I’d have loose skin hanging out of the sides! I would wear a mini cut-out like this (which I did order).
Mini skirts and dresses are a no-go for me as well, and they are everywhere. I think they are darling and would love to wear them, but the skin on my legs (especially my thighs) is not looking so hot (anyone else?). Another trend that we noticed was big ruffle tops. While I like some slight ruffles, the bigger ones tend to overwhelm my body type. I seriously had difficulty finding anything I wanted while shopping (which doesn’t usually happen!). Much of what we saw was for a much younger woman (In our opinion). What in the world is a girl supposed to wear?
Bomber Jacket
When you don’t love what’s going on in fashion and can’t find anything you like, stick to basics. I found this cute satin bomber jacket and varsity-style sweater that I have been loving. I paired it with a barrel-leg jean (a few sizes left) that I got in the summer and my newest pair of Golden Goose that are sooo cozy (here in silver)! Also, I know Golden Goose is expensive, but I have worn these every day for the last two months, and they have kept my feet so warm. They have a shearling insole that can be removed.
I know that retailers still have major sales and that spring is just starting to make it in the stores. I hope that I will find more pieces that I like in the next few months. Until then, I will be wearing essential and classic pieces. You can never go wrong with those.
We are out to hit a few more stores today. I will take notes and follow up if I see must-haves! Until next week, have a great weekend!
Stay well and be safe!

My condolences to your friend who lost her son. I canāt imagine the pain she and her family and friends feel. I am always on board with your fashion choices, but the barrel jeans are going to have to grow on me.

Cathy, deepest sympathies again to your beastie and her entire family. Just let me say you are too cute. Love the Anthropologie cutout dress. They just open a store near me, so maybe they’ll have it in store and I can try it on in person! I can’t imagine you having any loose skin hanging anywhere! I agree with Lisa about the barrel jeans though. Take care and hold your friends close.

Sincere apologies for my typo that I just saw; I meant no disrespect-*bestie. That’s the end of my posting comment days…
