WHY BLACK IS ALWAYS IN STYLE—EVEN IN THE SPRING AND SUMMER
Hello, ladies! I hope you have had a great week! I have to admit that I am super tired! I think life has caught up, and I am exhausted and overwhelmed. Does anyone else get that feeling? Before we even talk about clothes, can we take a moment to acknowledge something? Many of us are carrying so much. Whether caring for aging parents, helping with grandkids, juggling work, volunteering, being present for our friends, or simply keeping up with life, it’s a lot.
I don’t know about you, but there are days when I open my closet and think, “I just want to look good without having to think about it.”That’s where black comes in.
When the temperatures rise and the flowers bloom, we’ve all been programmed to put the black away, bring out the spring pastel colors, and all bright things. But for those who know our style, especially for us “mature” women, black never truly goes out of season.
Let’s be clear: black is not dull. It’s elegant, timeless, and incredibly versatile. It never lets you down! And contrary to what the seasonal “rules” may suggest, black can be just as fresh, chic, and breathable in July as in January.
Here’s why black deserves a permanent place in your warm-weather wardrobe:
Number one, it’s EFFORTLESS. Whether wearing a flowing black maxi dress or a lightweight linen blouse, black adds sophistication that doesn’t need much embellishment. I like to wear black because it speaks for itself. Number two, it’s always FLATTERING. Black is slimming, forgiving, and flattering on every body type. Black works like a charm! Next, it’s the PERFECT CANVAS. Blac allows you to play with accessories. Maybe add a bright handbag, a pair of shoes, and fun, colorful earrings. It complements those accessories. Lastly, black is SEASONLESS AND AGELESS. So many trends come and go, but black will always be a staple. If you are like me and feel good in black, why change because the calendar says May? I’m not saying I won’t wear a fun color, but wearing black is a no-brainer. So if black is your go-to, wear it all year long. After all, true style never takes a summer vacation, unlike me, who needs one!
Let’s talk about the two black looks I’m wearing. The first is a matching eyelet skirt and top from Ann Taylor (on sale and Friends and Family sale going on). I love the fact that I can wear this skirt with the top, a white tee or tank, and the top with white jeans. They are also machine washable. The second look is a precious dress in a lightweight organic cotton blend with double-puffed sleeves. This dress feels like it should be worn in Italy. Anyone going? I love a great looking throw on and go dress.
My daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters are here. They arrived on Friday and leave on Wednesday. I love having them here, but we have stayed up late every night with friends and family. I’ve never emptied my dishwasher as much! I also have never felt so old. I got the test results back from my bone density scan, and I am no longer osteopenic. I have full-blown osteoporosis in both hips. Now, I have to figure out the next steps for that! It’s always something!
I hope you all have a great week! Stay safe and Be well!
