FANGIRL CRUSH-KATHY KAEHLER

Good Morning everyone! Today’s post is a little different, in a good way! Having a fashion blog is great, but sometimes (more than sometimes) I get so tired of showing myself. So today, I want to introduce you to my new girl crush and new BFF, Kathy Kaehler. Some of you may know Kathy, but for those of you who don’t, let me do some sharing!

Kathy graduated from college in 1985 with a degree in Exercise Science and Dance Education. She went to work as an intern at Coors Wellness Center in Golden, Colorado for a few years. There she had one on one experience writing exercises and personal training. In 1989, she answered a call that landed her in the front yard of Jane Fonda’s home at her ranch in Santa Barbara for an interview. What started as a nervous meeting, ended with Kathy working as a personal trainer for her guests, which included Melanie Griffith, Ally Sheedy, and numerous others. She decided that training Hollywood celebrities was what she wanted to do.

Working for Jane Fonda was short lived, as Jane headed to Atlanta (remember that?), so Kathy headed into Los Angeles to find her dream. And boy did she find it! She spent thirteen years as the fitness expert on the NBC Today Show with Katie Couric. She also trained numerous celebrities including, Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Cindy Crawford, Jennifer Anniston, Jennifer Lopez, Claudia Schiffer, Denise Richard, and Kim Basinger. What losers to have to work with!!!! Can you stand it??? It gets even better…she was asked to create a workout DVD for, wait for it…Kim Kardashian, to divert attention from her very popular but very controversial (sex) tape. I can’t imagine being in charge of that!

Kathy began to write books, and has authored, “Teenage Fitness,” “Fit and Sexy For Life,” “Kaehler’s Celebrity Workouts,” and “Momenergy”. She has also written for many magazines. So what is she doing now? Kathy has a radio talk show in Los Angeles called “Fit & Sexy For Life.”

When Kathy had a double hip replacement, she opened up to her loyal listeners about her fears and everyday struggles. She got very real and transparent with these people which turned into a loyal following of listeners who could identify with her. She is as real as it gets, and that is what drew me to her.

We met when I went to California a few weeks back for the Chico’s Fierce 50 collaboration. Kathy was there and as soon as she walked up, I just had a good feeling about her, like we were going to be BFF’s. She is so authentic, normal, and unaffected by the crazy number of celebrities she has helped. She is fiercely devoted to her husband and three sons.

The only problem I see with our friendship is that we are not in the same place! I would love to hang out with her in person all of the time and drink wine (she loves wine). I haven’t been totally honest with her about being a fitness dropout, but I guess she will know now.

Kathy has asked me to do something really scary (to me it is) today and I have agreed. I am going to be a guest on her Radio Show. She must have lost her mind, but I am going to hope to God she doesn’t ask me about Math! If you guys are hanging out and want to hear her and a little me, check out her show at 1:00 CST…www.LATalkradio.com

You all have heard me say it a million times, but blogging has opened the doors to meeting the most wonderful women. Kathy Kaehler is one of them and I cannot wait to see her in person again.

Have a great day all and thank you for reading!
