MY TRIED AND TRUE BEAUTY PRODUCTS FROM NORDSTROM
Happy Hump Day! It is a very rainy day in Dallas today, but I am feeling so excited about my “littles” coming to town tomorrow! I have been putting up Easter decorations for them and stocking up on some treats to give them. I love spoiling them! One thing that my granddaughter loves to do with me is to come into my makeup room and put on makeup.
At her birthday party this past year, she had a tea party at a cottage in Ohio. The girl showing all of the five-year-old girls around the house told them that the powder room was around the corner. She asked if they knew what a powder room was, and my granddaughter raised her hand and said, ” a room to put on your blush like at KItty’s”! My daughter in law and I died! Anyway, I thought it was so timely that I was collaborating with Nordstrom for your one-stop destination for all things beauty.
I have to admit that beauty products are like candy for me! I love nothing more than to spend an hour perusing the makeup department at Nordstrom. And I can find everything I need and don’t need (if you know what I mean!). I can’t get enough of palettes these days. I have a drawer full of them and have so much fun getting ready in the morning. It’s therapeutic and a little bit like art. Shallow? I don’t think so. I believe whatever makes you feel your best is what you need to do and makeup makes me feel good.
MY TRIED AND TRUE BEAUTY PRODUCTS FROM NORDSTROM
So let’s get to the fun stuff! I wanted to show you my tried and true beauty products that I buy over and over, plus a few new things that I love! I have been using Trish McEvoy EYE BASE ESSENTIALS BRIGHTENING EYESHADOW PRIMER (in Sand) forever! It’s an eyeshadow and upper-eye brightener in one. This helps keep shadow in place for crease-proof, all-day wear. I also love her INSTANT EYE LIFT UNDEREYE TREATMENT CONCEALER (in Shade 1). This product brightens darkness as it reduces the look of fine lines, wrinkles, sagging, and puffiness for a dramatically lifted eye. And I have recently been introduced to the BEAUTY BOOSTER EYE SERUM. I use this on my eyelids and under my eyes before I apply anything. I get eczema on my eyelids, and this has helped more than I can say!
EYES
I love all things Charlotte Tilbury and am obsessed with her eyeshadow palettes. I buy every single one that comes out, and the new one is beautiful! It is the PILLOW TALK INSTANT EYE PALETTE and is a limited edition. The colors are gorgeous! I also use this one regularly too. While I am talking about Charlotte Tilbury, I also use her MAGIC CREAM with SPF15, HOLLYWOOD FLAWLESS FILTER (obsessed), POWDER & SCULPT BRUSH (for blush and use this one too), and this EYE SMUDGER BRUSH for lining underneath my eyes with a powder shadow.
Clé De Peau Beauté THE FOUNDATION SPF21 is my favorite foundation. I have been using it for several years and absolutely love it! It is gorgeous and natural-looking on the skin. Now, I know it is expensive, but I love everything about it. Sometimes I switch between The Foundation and use Giorgio Armani LUMINOUS SILK FOUNDATION. This has a much better price tag and looks just as good! Another product from Clé de Peau that I have used forever is the CONCEALER BROAD SPECTRUM25. There is a reason it has a cult following for years! Just make sure you warm it with your fingers first.
Mascaras and I have a thing.
I think I have tried all of them, but I can honestly say that I have been loyal to two from Nordstrom for a long time now. I cannot live without Chantecaille FAUX CILS LONGEST LASH MASCARA. It’s $72, and I know you are saying, WTH? But, it has a peptide in it that makes your eyelashes grow. I have been using it for years and will never stop! The other mascara is from MAC, and it is the EXTREME DIMENSION 3D MASCARA. I like it because it makes the lashes look thicker. You can’t have gorgeous lashes without a good eyelash curler. My favorite one for years and years is the Kevin Aucoin Beauty EYELASH CURLER. It does a great job curling, but the red rubber pad makes it easy to see your eyelashes.
FACE
The prettiest powder I have found is from Hourglass, called VEIL TRANSLUCENT SETTING POWDER. This powder is formulated with light-reflecting particles to instantly blur imperfections. It has a sifter that is designed to dispense the perfect amount, too (no waste). I am a blush girl and have tried blushes from every brand. I always go back to Nars, though. There is the prettiest limited-edition palette out right now, called the COOL CRUSH HOT FIX CHEEK PALETTE. It has four highlight and blush shades.
Lips are tricky for me because I am allergic to many lipsticks. I wish I could be more fun in this area because I love so many brands, but they don’t work for me. The only lipsticks and glosses that I can use are from Bobbi Brown, MAC, and Chanel. My favorite at the moment is the Chanel LE ROUGE DUO ULTRA TENUE Ultra Wear Lip Colour. What I like about this is that it’s a combo between a color and a gloss that has a hydrating top coat. The color lasts for a long time!
FRAGRANCE
I used to buy lots of different fragrances and then landed on two that I rotated between. One is hard to get, and the other has been discontinued (why do they do that?). I have found a new favorite that I wear every day now by Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris (that’s a mouthful!), called GRAND SOIR EAU de PARFUM. It’s an Oriental blend that has Benzoin from Siam, rose, honey from Bulgaria and Iran, incense absolute, ylang-ylang, cumin, atlas cedar, and sandalwood. I seriously get stopped every day by someone asking what I am wearing.
A few other products that I use are from Supergoop. I keep INVINCIBLE SETTING POWDER SPF45 in my car to put on the back of my hands and to use it in case I forget sunscreen on my face. I also discovered their SHIMMERSHADE ILLUMINATING CREAM EYESHADOW. This is fabulous to use if you are going to be outside all day but want some color.
I could go on, but I think I have shown you enough for today. I love that Nordstrom carries all of the best brands for a makeup junkie like me! Whatever you use on your face, please make sure you are using a good sunscreen of some sort!
My PSA for the day!
I’m out the door for an early workout, then to lunch with a friend. I haven’t had much time with my friends lately, and I need it. I get blue if I’m not around my friends. Girl time is so important! I hope you have a beautiful day!

I am also obsessed with all things Trish McEvoy. I purchased one of her makeup planners during the Anniversary sale and followed the makeup tutorial insert with great results. And I agree with Cathy, the eyelid primer and undereye concealer are two of the best makeup products I’ve ever used. Second shout out is for Maison Francis Kurkdjian scents. You can actually order five samples for approx. 20 euro directly from them to see which perfume you like best. The Grand Soir was the reason I initially ordered samples from them, and then ended up purchasing a bottle of the Amyris. Thank you for the other recommendations too!

I wish I was more into makeup because I love how it looks when done right – and you do it right! I will say that I use that Clinique cream and it is amazing – my skin feels sooooo good after using it! Have fun with your girlfriends 🙂

I needed to read your article today. I have been dealing with an eyelid rash for over a year and I’m being patch tested again later this month. I can’t wear any makeup and may be allergic to mica which is in everything…. I feel so ugly. I’m struggling with not being able to wear any makeup at all…. people are constantly asking me if I feel well because my eye lids are so red. I’m 60 will check out your suggestions. In the meantime I wear scarves and pretty jewelry to keep me pretty.,.

Enjoyed your post today. I have been trying to find a new foundation since Bobbie Brown
Discontinued their luminous foundation, Moisture Rich. I thought I had found one at the Armani Counter but I was told my skin had a pink tone and all Armani foundations were olive based and none of the colors would match my skin tone. My question is: what is your skin tone?
