COMFORT AND EASE: WHY YOU’LL LOVE SKIRTS FOR EARLY FALL STYLE

Hello, ladies! It’s been a minute since I posted. My life has been a whirlwind lately, only to get more whirly in the coming weeks! I am heading back from a jam-packed but glorious trip to Charleston, SC. I had been to Charleston a long time ago, but did not get to do much in the way of sightseeing or eating. I do believe it’s my new favorite place! I was with my bestie, Janet Norton, and we couldn’t have had more fun! I will be writing more about it, but if you can get there for a weekend trip, I highly recommend staying at 86 Cannon! It is the most special place!

Today, I wanted to share why I love wearing skirts in the early fall. When the seasons start to shift, dressing can feel tricky. It’s not quite time for heavy layers, but the lightweight sundresses of summer don’t always cut it either. That’s where skirts come in—the unsung heroes of early fall style. They’re comfortable, endlessly versatile, and chic enough to carry you from a coffee date to a casual dinner out. A great skirt offers all-day comfort without sacrificing style. Unlike jeans, skirts don’t cling, making them ideal for warmer afternoons that still sneak into September. You can move easily, sit comfortably, and feel breezy while still looking pulled together.

Transition-Friendly Styling

Pair a flowy printed maxi skirt with a cardigan (join the waitlist for brown or shop this one) or a lightweight sweater for the perfect blend of cozy and cool. On warmer days, swap the sweater for a tucked-in tee and let your skirt do the talking. And for a dressier moment, a matching top-and-skirt set (like the second outfit) makes styling effortless while looking polished. Sidenote…

Easy to Dress Up or Down

The beauty of skirts in early fall is their versatility. Slide into sandals or heeled mules for a more refined look, or keep things casual with sneakers or ballet flats. (I just bought these in Charleston, and they are so comfy – plus, they look like Bottega. Sorry, but feel free to add them to your wishlist or waitlist, or call the Charleston store.) A neutral cardigan, a structured handbag, and layered jewelry can instantly elevate the look without feeling overdone.

Skirts let you enjoy the ease of summer with just enough polish for fall. They’re feminine, comfortable, and versatile—exactly what our wardrobes need during the in-between season. If you haven’t already, try adding one or two to your early fall rotation. I’m having so much fun with skirts right now!

As I said above, I’m on the plane heading home now. By the time I publish this tomorrow morning, I will be headed back to the airport and on my way to Mexico City. We are meeting our church small group (8 of us) for the weekend. We’ve never been to Mexico City, but I hear it’s a beautiful place with amazing art and food! Our youngest son and daughter-in-law got back on Tuesday from Mexico City and loved it; however, they came back with a parting gift that I want nothing to do with! I’m taking some filtered water bottles and not going to be eating a whole lot or drinking anything with ice. I guess that means a lot of wine! I think the whole point of going is trying the food, but they were extra careful and still got sick. I’ll make a decision at each restaurant we go to. I may be living on protein bars!

I hope you have a great weekend! Stay well and Be safe (and pray for our country)! xx
