EASY DRESSES FOR TRAVEL AND AN $800 NORDSTROM GIVEAWAY
Happy Monday, everyone! Well, this weekend was a sad time for us. Friday, my son, daughter in law, and the grandkids pulled out of our driveway to move to Ohio. We lost it, and we cried all day every time we thought about it. I do feel like an arm has been cut off, but I know they have their path and moving to Columbus is it right now. My fingers are crossed that they will eventually come back to Dallas, but for now, I have to cut the cord! Why is it so hard? Today, it’s all about easy travel dresses.
Headed to Newport this week
We are headed out of town later this week, and I am going to attempt to carry-on my suitcase. We are headed to Newport, Rhode Island and thankfully, it looks like this past weekends heatwave will have moved out. My husband is playing in a golf tournament, and we have three nights of events, one casual and two cocktail parties. I am taking this outfit for one night and a black dress that I’ve had for a while for the other.
Packing for the daytime seems harder for me because I am not exactly sure what we will be doing. One day maybe at a friend’s house by the pool, one day could be shopping around, or touring some of the mansions. This is when I panic about what to take. Of course, the bathing suit goes, but I am taking some cute throw on dresses that I can add a jacket or sweater too.
Easy Travel Dresses For Travel
The dress I have on is so cute and has an adorable fit (running low in sizes). I love the camo print, but it comes in so many other colors (lots of sizes). I change in the car when I shoot for the blog, so I had on nipple covers and didn’t put a bra on, but I will wear one of my Coobies bras in a fun color like this when I wear the dress. I threw on my favorite sneakers and added a jacket I already had and think this is a great sightseeing or shopping look (plus folds up to nothing). I am including some other easy travel/packing dresses below.
We visited Newport a few years ago, but I am sure we didn’t get to see or do everything. Have any of you been? What would you recommend we do? Would love to hear your favorite activities, restaurants, or shops!

My best friend from Birmingham came in yesterday and spent the night last night. I only get one night and day with her, which is definitely not long enough. We had a fun night last night with another long-time friend of mine that was in town. I love it when the people closest to me in different parts of the country get to meet each other!
I hope you all have a great Monday! xx

I love Newport. It will be busy this time of the year. If you haven’t done any of the Gilded Mansion tours, I highly recommend doing at least a couple. I recommend The Breakers, The Marble House and/or Rosecliff. Awe inspiring. Take a hike along the Cliff Walk and stop at The Chanler for drinks. So many great restaurants to chose from. Check out the website DISCOVER NEWPORT. It’s up to date and offers great recommendations. There’s always something new. Planning on getting back there upon my return from Chicago next week (daughter’s wedding!)
Have fun!

Kathy: one shop I would recommend is SEQUIN at 119 Bellevue Ave. They have the most fun costume jewelry! My favorites are the endless choices of the most colorful bangle bracelets. You will want to buy one in every color- I buy a few very time I’m in Newport. I would try and do the Cliff Walk- it’s lovely first thing in the am. Enjoy!

I have been thinking of you this week. I helped my daughter move to Texas from Oregon, I cried all the way home on the plane, just uncontrollable tears running down my face. ( I felt really sorry for the two gentleman I was sitting between.) ten months later she gave birth to her daughter and I was so afraid she wouldn’t be close to us like our other grandchildren, but all my fears were unfounded. Thankfully we were able to visit often and thank god for face time. God is good , they have moved home but our bond grew even closer when we were separated by all those miles. You are in my prayers as you navigate this change in your life.

Thanks for the post about this dress. I liked it so much that I found a blue camo version (long sleeve) on Poshmark where it was ridiculously cheap. It arrived today and is perfect. I know I’ll wear it for a long time to come because it’s so buttery soft and very flattering. I’m an older mom so my youngest is heading to college in the fall—with 2,000 miles separating us. It’s different than having a whole family move away, but the hole in a mom’s heart is the same nonetheless.
Hope the trip to Newport was a worthy distraction.

Cathy, I love your Middle Page; it’s so great to see someone the same age look adorable and appropriate!
This post made me cry; my daughter son-in-law and grandson ( plus another on the way) are moving in 3 weeks and I am heartbroken. Please keep us posted as to how your are navigating this big change; you are a great example!
