How To Style A Simple Black Turtleneck Dress

Hello there! How was the past weekend? We stayed in on Friday night and watched a movie while my mom went out. We felt like parents waiting on their child to come in at their curfew! My mom has been going out with a lifelong friend a lot lately, and I am so happy because she has not been able to do that in years. She’s dipping her toes into getting back out there, and I am all for it.

I signed her up for Match ( I know, my dad recently passed, but he was not himself for so long), and it has been a hoot seeing the interest. Some of these men are in their late 80’s still looking for action! She is not ready, but it’s fun to see the messages and “likes” come in. We had dinner with friends outside on Saturday night, and it was a lovely evening!

Today, I wanted to show how to style a simple black turtleneck dress!

A black turtleneck dress is something that I think is a no brainer to have in your closet. Why? Because you can do a lot with it. I styled it casually with the Fendi sandals and then added a great belt and heels to dress it up. A turtleneck dress can be the base for a blazer, an oversized sweater, or a white button-down knotted at the waist. It looks good with boots, heels, sneakers, or flats. I think color turtleneck dresses are fun too, but black always looks chic. My turtleneck dress was purchased about a month ago at H&M for less than $20 with only extra small sizes left (which is what I am wearing), but it looks like they may restock because there is a “notify me” button on the sizes. I am linking others below.

Two things…I understand that a lot of you may not like the Birkenstock look.

Fashion is supposed to be fun, and you should be able to wear what you want and like. I happen to like them mixed with feminine pieces. I am not offended if you don’t like them (and I HAVE to wear them because I paid for them!). We like what we like! The other thing is that the sunglasses I have on in the second look are fantastic. They have a wrap-around side shield to protect your eyes. My daughter in law and I bought them at the beach last month for eye protection. We love them!

So, I got to do something this past Saturday that I am so excited about. I had my portrait taken by Gittings (they are the premier portrait photographers in Dallas) for something next month that has to do with Breast Cancer Awareness. I haven’t ever had a portrait photograph taken of just me. It was a little intimidating, but I can’t wait to see the finished product. Anyway, I will be sure to show you all when it happens.

I hope you all have a great Tuesday! Stay safe if you live on the Coast or in California! xx
