Hi, everyone! Hope your week is going great! I had the best Monday and Tuesday of this week. I mentioned that I was going to Houston with my amazing friend Tova, who was speaking at a luncheon at St. Martins Episcopal Church in Houston (well, I didn’t actually mention the church). I should have because it is the church that President Bush and Barbara Bush attended and both of their funerals were held there. It was the most beautiful place! Tova was booked for this event a year ago by a woman in Houston who was chairing the event. Small world, I knew her in Birmingham and had no idea she had moved to Houston (we both lived in Birmingham at the same time). She invited Tova and me to stay in her home. She had a small cocktail gathering for Tova when we arrived on Monday. Both of us fell in love with all of the women there. On Tuesday, Tova spoke in front of about 350 women (I would have peed or pooped my pants!). She has such a tragic yet powerful story, and you could have heard a pin drop for the forty-five minutes she spoke. It was so lovely, and we loved everyone we met! Houston has great people! Today, I am heading to the trenches (so corny) with this fabulous trench coat!

This coat is a different twist on a trench

In the almost six years I’ve had this blog, I don’t think I’ve ever talked about trench coats (what is wrong with me?). The trench coat is called that because it was used as a coat by the British troops in WWI in connection with trench warfare (FYI). That’s why they feel so British! When I think of a trench coat, I think of Burberry and London Fog traditional coats. I don’t have a traditional trench coat, but I do have this one that is a different twist on a trench that I got at Club Monaco. I got it back in the fall and bought an extra for my daughter. I love this chic coat that is a newer style of a trench but still classic. It is made from Tencel and is perfect for layering over everything for any time of the year. It comes in black, khaki, and olive and is now on sale with an extra 40% off!

How to wear a trench coat

So, since Spring is right around the corner, how do you wear a trench coat? There are several ways that always look chic and polished. Wear one draped over your shoulders, over a cocktail dress for an unexpected look, layered over another jacket, belted as a dress, or like my look, in a darker color. Of course, Burberry is the quintessential trench, but I don’t think you have to invest that much money unless you want to! There are so many great looking trench coats that don’t cost an arm and a leg, and they should be a staple that you have in your closet. I’ve picked my favorites below! I also wanted to show this great bag from a brand I really like called, Senreve. This bag comes in fourteen colors and can be used as a belt bag, sling bag, crossbody, and a clutch!

I am taking the morning to get myself organized. Later I am shooting with my Chic at Every Age girls then heading to a girl’s dinner tonight. Love those dinners with friends so much! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read! xx
