BORROWED COURAGE

Hi, everyone! How was your weekend? I guess it may still be going on with Martin Luther King Day. We have been babysitting all weekend, which will continue for the rest of the week and next weekend. The parents went on a vacay for eight days and left us in charge. YIKES!!! A five and three year old are non stop!!! I have played with A LOT of Playdough!

Today, I am veering away from fashion (although she is very fashionable) to introduce you to someone who is incredibly special in my life, and who has written a compelling book about her story, called “Borrowed Courage.” Meet Tova Sido. I don’t say this lightly, but Tova is probably THE most special human I have ever met! When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, Tova was one of the pastors at Highland Park United Methodist Church where we attend. Right after I received my diagnosis, we went to church, and both my husband and I filled out a prayer request. I didn’t know Tova at all, but she is the one who emailed us about the prayer request. I asked if I could meet and talk to her and we made an appointment. I took my daughter to the meeting with me, and when Tova walked in, it was as if I met my best friend (my daughter felt the same way, as does everyone who meets her)! She talked with us and prayed for me. She was at the hospital a week later after I had my mastectomy and the rest, as they say, is history.

Tova has a story like nothing I have ever heard before. When you meet Tova, she is the most upbeat, joyful, and sparkly person you have ever met. She is like an angel, but so relatable with no judgment what so ever! I say that because it’s true, but I look at her sometimes and think, how is she that way? Without giving the story away, Tova has had more tragedy than anyone I personally know. The tragedy has to do with children, and that’s all I will say, but because of her passionate love and trust in Jesus, she has the most joyful spirit. This book is one that will most definitely give you hope no matter what you may be going through or will go through, and it needs to be made into a movie!

Tova is no longer pastoring at the church but counsels individuals and couples. She teaches a weekly Bible Study in Dallas that is so good, and her love of Jesus is the “real deal.” Our family is so lucky to have her as a part of ours! My husband and children love her so much! She officiated my daughter’s wedding and will be officiating my son’s this year, as well as counseling with them.

I could go on and on about this remarkable woman. She is LIGHT wherever she goes! I don’t know what I did to have her placed in my life, but I thank God for her because she is MAGIC! I HIGHLY recommend that you order and read this book. You will learn so much about having to “borrow courage” when you need it the most (or know someone who needs it).
