PERIDOT GREEN SUMMER DRESS

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you have had a good week. I am trying to be upbeat, but this COVID sh*t is making me mad now! I thought it was supposed to get better in the heat! I have been praying for scorching Texas temperatures to make this go away, and instead, we are getting hot temps with more of the virus! I feel like we are living in the Twilight Zone! There is still never a dull moment around here, though. We are finishing a room above our garage and have a lot of comings and goings-on with that. It is fun to see the room (and bathroom) start to take shape and plan what it will look like. I am not a huge color person, but I may try to work a little color in the room, and the color I am thinking, is peridot green like the summer dress I am wearing.
I am always drawn to this shade of green. Peridot is my birthstone, and it’s a color that I can wear. I think it would be so pretty used in a bedroom too. But, more about this summer dress. I ordered it a few weeks ago because it’s so stinking hot here and dresses are so easy to throw on to keep you cool and I needed a few for the summer. Of course, what made me order it was the peridot color plus, I love the puff sleeves and that it is washable. I thought I might add a tank underneath because it looked a little low cut, but I decided to forgo and be a little bit daring (ha!). I am weird now with anything that has a plunging neckline because my boobs look ripply toward the middle of my chest, but the dress covered it enough. Anyway, isn’t it a cute summer dress? It’s from a brand called Faithful The Brand, and I have found some of the cutest pieces from them. I think I may have to order this dress too! If you don’t love the dress but love the print, I found this dress, skirt, robe, pajama shorts, and top in it.
I think sundresses look great with wedges, but I generally wear them with a flat sandal unless I am heading to dinner or a luncheon, but since that is not happening right now, flat sandals it is! I also love this bag from Caterina Bertini, which I have shown a couple of times. I think the shape looks like a Fendi baguette, and it’s perfect for a summer bag. I purchased mine on Shopbop, but it’s already sold out (one of these is left). I did find it in dark brown here. I have linked a few other straw bags below that I like.
We have nothing planned for the weekend. We finished the second season of a show we’ve been watching called Sweet Bitter last night. We started watching The Crown with my mom and are into the second season on that one, but we can’t watch it while she is out of town (that would be cheating). We desperately need to find a new series to start. I don’t want to sound like a millennial or a child, but I am bored! Anyone else?
I hope you have a great weekend! Be well, and stay safe.

Cathy: “Ozark” is riveting- its a long series with a fabulous cast. I am looking forward to seeing Jon Stewart’s new comedy “Irresistible” premiering on Netflix tonight. We are so lucky to be in the Northeast (CT) where our governors were wise enough to shut us down completely and now our covid numbers are flattening! Too bad Texas didn’t follow suit. It was hard but it really helped. We are gradually reopening, but we have personally decided to continue to shelter in place, and stay away from restaurants, etc. Still wearing masks of course. Good luck- there’s so many great series it’s amazing.

The style and more delicate lines of this sandal are so much more flattering with a dress than in a recent picture. You were with 4 of your friends wearing a long, navy blue dress with Fendi sandals. I have to say, they just looked clunky worn with a dress and by comparison to your friend’s girlie sandals. There may be outfits that they (Fendi) will look better with but for the money, I think those shoes (and others similiar that are trending) are just awful. They aren’t doing a woman’s feet and legs any favors!
My 2 cents.

Kathy, appreciate your honest thoughts on life right now. So very sorry about having to move through your dad’s loss during this challenging time. On the fashion side, the dress is breezy and really sweet on you, and your plunge isn’t indecent. I haven’t tried a pale print in a looooong time but I’m a redhead as well so I might. We are re-watching Friends, 30 Rock and Fringe right now. On my own I’ve been watching Sweet Magnolias – pretty good! And The Lost Kingdom, Danes/Vikings period drama. Blessings, stay healthy!

Beautiful dress Cathy. It looks so lovely with your coloring. I’ve never been more concerned for our great nation. I haven’t purchased one item of clothing since COVID gripped the states in March and there are so many great sales going on. Love your blog!

Hi Everyone!
So bored that I watched the entire Veronica Mars television series via Hulu. Talk about “millennial”. ???? Hang in everyone and positive thought!

Imposters on Amazon Prime has been a great series! I was watching Homeland but after a couple seasons, I’ve lost interest. My husband works for DoD and keeps reminding me how unrealistic it is so I’ve stopped watching for now. I’ve also been rewatching series that I’ve loved – The Office, Monk, Parks & Rec!
I love that dress!! ♥️

Amazing! We have seen Schitt’s Creek and Sex Education! Loved both!

Susan! We finished Ozark and it was fantastic! Have not heard of Irresistible but will check that out! I wish we had not opened up as soon either. I am staying as close to home as possible and not venturing out except for essentials. Stay safe!!!!

Hi, Kathleen! I’ve heard Imposters is great! That will be our next series! I loved Homeland and I will say, it gets better. The end of the last season is the best ending I’ve ever seen! I’ve been watching Friends and Seinfeld!

Thank you, Brenda! I don’t know if my thoughts make any sense at all right now! You should try a pale green or blue! I’m watching Friends too! I don’t remember Fringe but will look into that! Stay well! xx

Cathy (forgive me for misspelling your name in my first comment!), you are totally making sense. And Fringe is a sci-fi series we love, ran for five seasons up until 2013. There’s so much out there to watch right now — too many choices for me, LOL. I’m also deliberately trying to watch more positive/funny stuff (and praying more!) to keep my focus. Blessings!
